This leads to fatigue and poor emotional regulation when pushed too hard too fast. We do a lot of repetition and review in our tutoring sessions to help these tasks become more automatic and lessen the cognitive load. Cognitive Load and Dyslexia Why your child comes home tired from school

Learning how to divide multi-syllable words into individual syllables can be a key strategy in students being able to decode longer words. Many students are hesitant to use this skill at first because they feel like it is going to take them longer, and they instead try to guess at the word. Guessing in the end usually ends up actually taking longer and is more frustrating guessing again and again and still not getting the correct word.
