What’s your role in the collective evolution? In a recent LinkedIn poll, I asked: "How engaged are you in community or organizational initiatives?" Here’s what you shared:
25% said very engaged
63% said occasionally engaged
13% said not engaged
These numbers are more than data points; they're emotional intelligence indicators.
One of the core EQ skills I work with as a coach is Social Responsibility—the ability to contribute meaningfully to the group or community, to act with a sense of interconnection and contribution, and to care as much about the group meeting their own goals as you do about yourself. It’s not about overextending. It’s about inner alignment.
When we’re socially responsible, we’re not just team players: we’re change initiators. We feel the pulse of what needs to shift, and we show up, not to be seen, but to help others see.
This is the magic of emotionally intelligent leadership: when we take responsibility not just for our own outcomes, but for our impact, we catalyze something bigger than ourselves.
I invite you to ask yourself gently, without judgment:
Where am I being called to engage more deeply?
What part of me wants to contribute but doesn’t yet feel safe, supported, or ready?
You don’t need to lead the charge to be a vital part of the change. You just need to start listening to the inner prompt that says: “You matter here.”
