Today we celebrated Chef’s Day by preparing our very own lunch, with a little help from our amazing Chef Latrina!

Our little chefs had so much fun preparing and enjoying the meal they made all by themselves! 🥗🍎🧑‍🍳✨

Learning Through Play at Deerwood! Play is more than fun, it’s one of the most meaningful ways young children explore, practice, and truly grasp new concepts. Productive play and thoughtfully designed learning centers give children opportunities to build skills both at home and at school while learning in ways that feel natural and engaging. 💛
At Deerwood, our teachers intentionally create meaningful learning opportunities that allow children to practice early reading and math skills while strengthening fine motor development, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. ✨ Room 10 enjoyed a fun phonics activity inspired by their literacy experience with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, connecting familiar literature to early reading skills. 🌴
Room 11 explored animal sensory play while practicing counting, sorting, reading, and number recognition, turning hands-on exploration into a rich math and literacy experience. It’s amazing how much children can learn when we give them the opportunity to play, explore, create, and learn together! 🩵💛💚

🎨 Art is an important part of learning in Pre-K! At Deerwood, we encourage art in every area of our classroom because creating helps children explore numbers, colors, letters, shapes, textures, and their senses while developing fine-motor skills and creativity.
Through art and creative play, children learn to make choices, experiment, problem-solve, and express their ideas in their own unique ways. We believe that when children are given the freedom to create, learning becomes hands-on, meaningful, and fun! 🌈✨
