Please help us welcome the newest addition to our MS AT program faculty, Michael Nolan!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Michael obtained his BS in athletic training from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, in 2009.

When asked what his favorite part about being an athletic trainer is, he said "Seeing people go from healthy, to injured, to full-go and be there to serve them every step of the way".

When asked about the most memorable moment in his career thus far, Michael said, "Depends on the career, ha. In the pre-hospital setting, injuries will probably be the answer to this question. I specifically remember a track championship meet where we had multiple 'freak' accidents in the same meet over two days. A discus pretty much scalped an official during warm-ups, and then we had an open tib-fib fracture during the 100m heats. I believe we had a dislocated ankle in the pole vault during the same meet. Just an eventful track meet all around."

Some other fun facts about Michael:

Favorite Food - "This one is tough because it depends on my mood. But, if health was not an issue, a great filet minion cannot be beaten. ๐Ÿ™‚"

Favorite Hobbies - Working on cars, being outdoors (hiking, beach, walks, fishing, float trips, etc.)

Favorite movie or type of movie - "Good historical fiction movies (i.e., Davinci Code, Oppenheimer, etc.). Any good edge-of-the-seat mystery movie where you have to pay attention to the details."

Favorite sports team or athlete- "Nebraska Cornhuskers is in my blood. I was born, raised, and graduated as a Husker. But professional teams are the Blues and Cardinals."

What is one interesting fact about yourself? "I suppose an interesting fact is I can play the violin. Something that doesn't often come up in practice or conversation, so not many people know about it."

๐ŸŒŸ Meet our MS AT Student, Neka Scott ๐ŸŒŸ

Neka graduated from Jackson State University with a BS in Biology.

When asked why she chose to pursue Athletic Training, Neka said "I chose to major in Athletic training because I have always had a love of sports. I want to be able to be the best role model for high school athletes. Making sure that athletes have the proper treatment as well as building a connection and making an impact on the lives of the athletes. It is more than just watching the athlete perform but watching them grow into a better version of themselves."

Neka's professional goals include opening her own practice and working to become one of the top Athletic Trainers in the country. More specifically, she wants "to be able to offer affordable healthcare services to individuals who are not able to afford the proper treatment as well as the proper Orthotics to perform effectively. "

When asked what she is most excited about being an LU AT student, Neka said: "I am most excited to learn and grow more in the field of athletic training. This program will allow me the opportunity to network and make life-long connections within the field of athletic training itself. Who wouldnโ€™t want to be challenged and gain great insight from the best AT program here at Lindenwood?"
