The St. Bonaventure community mourns the passing of Dr. William “Bill” Wehmeyer, a former longtime professor of English, who passed away July 29.

Bill dedicated more than four decades to St. Bonaventure, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues. He founded the Northeast Modern Language Association and co-founded SBU’s Irish Studies program before retiring in 2007.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, followed by burial with full military honors at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bill’s family, friends and all who knew him.

Six high school juniors and seniors spent two weeks on our campus this summer working one-on-one with St. Bonaventure faculty on real research projects through our High School Student Research Program! 🔬

From molecular genetics in leukemia and biopsychology to digital humanities and theology, these students explored complex topics while gaining valuable hands-on research experience. They wrapped up the program last Friday by presenting their findings to family, friends and the SBU community.
