🚒🔥 STOP, DROP, AND GIVE OUR FIREFIGHTERS SOME LOVE! ❤️🖤

Wednesday was ON FIRE at R.B. Hunt… in the BEST way possible! 🚒🙌

Our VPK through 2nd grade Islanders welcomed the amazing City of St. Augustine Fire Department for a special fire safety presentation! 👨‍🚒🧯

But this was more than just a visit from our hometown heroes! ❤️ Fire safety education is an important part of helping our students build real-life skills, learn how to recognize potential dangers, understand what to do in an emergency, and know how to ask for help when it matters most.

Because learning at R.B. Hunt goes beyond the classroom! We’re preparing our Islanders with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to shine both in school and in our community. 🌟

A HUGE THANK YOU to our St. Augustine firefighters for taking the time to teach, inspire, and help keep our youngest Islanders safe! You’re heroes in our books! 🚒❤️

It’s time to let those creative juices FLOW, Islanders! 🎨🧡 The annual R.B. Hunt Student Pumpkin Decorating Contest is back, and we can’t wait to see what our amazing students dream up!

📚 THE CHALLENGE: Decorate a pumpkin inspired by a favorite book character, R.B. Hunt, or your very own imagination. Go BIG, get creative, and let your personality shine!

🎁 THE PRIZE? Each category winner will receive an ART BASKET, and winners will be announced Monday, November 2!

🎃 HOW TO ENTER:
📅 Bring your decorated pumpkin to the cafeteria October 26–30.
🗳️ Voting will take place during the R.B. Hunt Fall Festival.
✅ Each person may cast one vote per category.

🚨 IMPORTANT PUMPKIN RULES: NO CARVING! Only artificial pumpkins will be accepted. We want all the creativity without the pumpkin mess! 😉

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you mix a big heart, endless creativity, and a true passion for helping kids shine… you get a teacher like Ms. Velsor! 🌟

As a dedicated second-grade teacher, Ms. Velsor goes above and beyond for her students AND her teammates. From bringing learning to life in the classroom to cheering on those around her, she leads with enthusiasm, collaboration, and a whole lot of heart. ❤️

She reminds us that teaching is about so much more than lessons and learning objectives — it’s about inspiring confidence, building connections, and helping every Islander discover just how brightly they can shine! 💡📚

🌟 WAIT… WHAT EXACTLY IS PBIS? 🌟

You’ve probably heard us say that R.B. Hunt is a PBIS school… but what does that actually mean? 👀

PBIS = Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports — and at Hunt, it’s all about creating a school culture where positive behavior is taught, encouraged, recognized, and celebrated. ❤️🖤🤍

Think of it as a schoolwide approach to answering one really important question:

✨ “What does it look like to be an Islander who shines?” ✨

We don’t just expect students to know how to be respectful, responsible, kind, safe, and ready to learn — we teach them. We recognize them when we see those behaviors in action, and we celebrate their successes along the way.

🌟 They make positive choices → They earn Shine Points → They get to celebrate their hard work in our SHINE Store!

But here’s the BIGGER picture…

PBIS isn’t really about the points.
It’s about building a culture.

A culture where kids feel noticed.
A culture where kindness matters.
A culture where positive choices are celebrated.

Help us celebrate and congratulate Ms. Stetson, our Hunt’s Hero! ❤️🖤

As a dedicated third-grade teacher, Ms. Stetson has a special gift for helping students discover the joy of reading. 📚✨ Through individualized book discussions, goal-setting conferences, and plenty of encouragement, she meets students where they are and helps them believe in where they can go.

Her calm, warm approach creates a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow. She is also a true team player—always ready to collaborate, share ideas, and work alongside her colleagues to make sure every learner gets what they need to shine. 🌟
