Happy New Year Everyone!

I want to send a big, heartfelt thank you to all of the students, parents, and guardians that have taken classes with me, shown interest in these classes, or spread the word to others.

The past 6 months of classes at the studio have been nothing short of amazing. Every single student has made tremendous progress from their first class and it has been such a joy to be a part of. We have explored nature, studied various mediums, practiced new techniques, made messes, created many masterpieces, and made new friends.

Classes are held on Monday and Tuesdays from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at the St. Aug Beach Art Gallery and Studio.

If you are curious about the classes or wondering if it is something your child would enjoy, please reach out! I am more than happy to answer any questions.

What happens when we try to mix oil pastels and watercolor?
What about chalk pastel and acrylic paint?

Today we will be discovering what kind of reactions occur when mixing different mediums together.

First we will take a walk on the beach, observe our surroundings, and gather inspiration.

What can we see? What colors are here? What about textures and pattern? How and what can we use to capture this in our art?

Then we quick sketch outside and head to the studio to continue our work.

If you can't make it to class tonight, try asking these questions with your family and see what you come up with.

The cool thing about creativity is that you can bring it anywhere and everywhere with you. You can spark it within yourself and those around you.

I hope everyone is staying safe and dry during this hurricane.

With kids being out of school for the rest of the week, finding activities and things for them to do can be challenging. Especially incorporating physical activity while being stuck inside.

These classes offer an outlet for the creative mind, the busy mind, the worried mind, and the confused mind to express themselves in the most authentic way while having fun. We paint, we draw, we dance, we make messes, we build and we have fun.

Trying to think of a way to encourage your child to write more or get creative with their words?

Try playing around with haikus!

A simple poem with three lines that plays with syllabus, a great brain exercise for anyone!
Here’s how it goes…

Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables

Example:
Bees buzz around me
Making friends with my flowers
Buzzing all around
🐝🌸🐝🌺🐝🌹🐝🌷🐝

You can leave the topic open or make up a fun category/topic!

Topics can include things like animals, things that make you happy, favorite foods, describe yourself, different locations, or something you can currently see!

Here’s my haiku about bumble bees broken down for you!

Bees buzz a-round me
1 2 3 4 5

Mak-ing friends with my flow-ers
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Buzz-ing all a-round
1 2 3 4 5

You can play this in the car, waiting in line, during commercials, and really anywhere at any time!
