Flower arranging is a classic Montessori Practical Life work. It develops fine motor skills, concentration, and an appreciation for beauty from the natural world. These flowers were lovingly grown on a local farm in WNC- such a special treat for the children!

But how is the child to find the right place for each of the little cylinders which lie mixed upon the table? He first makes trials...Then, changing its place, he tries others until the cylinder goes in...He repeats the process again and again, and finally he succeeds. Primary children have been learning about vermicomposting in after school and enjoy feeding the worms at the end of the day. The worms turn our snack scraps into compost which is then spread on our garden beds to grow yummy produce!

Primary students had another amazing adventure to the Spruce Pine Public Library to see the the critters from the Kernersville Reptile Zoo. They learned about snakes, lizards, turtles, and scorpions, and were able to pet a ball python and a baby alligator! Thank you to Ms. Natasha and the folks at the Toe River Valley Regional Library for creating these fun and educational experiences for our community!
