Every Thursday, get to know one of our amazing faculty or staff at SJHS! This week, meet Ms. George! Ms. George is our Chinese DLI teacher and is originally from Anchorage, Alaska. She loves reading, speaking Chinese, crafting, traveling, and being with family. Her favorite treat is caramel turtles and her favorite drink is an Unbreakable from Swig. If she could travel anywhere it would be to Thailand with her family. Her favorite book is Persuasion by Jane Austin, and her favorite movie is Jaws! We love Ms. George!

Are you hitting the road for Fall Break? If so, consider turning on one of these audiobooks that the whole family can enjoy! Students have access to thousands of free audiobooks through the SORA app. They just need to log in using their student gmail account.

It’s Reflections time! “What My Culture Means to Me” is the official theme for the 2026–2027 National PTA Reflections. What does this mean for you? Take a moment, think about it and then go to town with your creativity! You can write, sing, dance, draw, paint, sculpt, and even make a movie or write a poem. Entries are due by Oct 1st. We are honoring veterans at Springville Jr. High School during the month of November. We would love to have art displayed throughout the commons area that represents this year's theme of "Because They Served."

Art Options:

You could choose between many different art options such as: drawing, painting, sculpting, constructing, photography, etc. The top 3 art projects will get prizes and be featured on our social media pages.

Guidelines:

Think of the theme, "Because They Served" and create a work of art that represents the theme.

Make sure it is respectful (no graphic violent scenes).

Make sure it honors our veterans.

The art piece needs to be at least 8x10. We want people to be able to see it and the detail you have worked so hard to create. It can be larger, but 8x10 is the minimum size.

Submissions are due: Friday, November 8th

Submit your entry to Mrs. Lundell in the office.
