Our Story
Celebrating over 130 years of Catholic Education, St. Aloysius Regional School (STARS) remains a strong and vital part of our regional community offering an educational opportunity for Pre-School aged children through 8th Grade, not found in the region’s other schools. We serve families in the Gowanda, Collins, North Collins, Eden, Boston, Springville, Cattaraugus, Ellicottville, West Valley, Glenwood, Colden, Holland, Sardinia, Delevan, and Arcade areas. Business First has consistently ranked us in the last 5 years as one of the top-tier schools in all of WNY.
We offer children for ages 3 and 4, the region’s only Montessori Pre-School. Montessori is a style of education that is scientifically based and has been in practice for over a century. A Montessori classroom is thoughtfully designed to offer children opportunities to develop their own capabilities, whether it is learning how to dress themselves independently, learn early math and reading skills, communicate their needs effectively, or problem solve with others. Each classroom is filled with developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children to interact with specific learning materials, as well as to work cooperatively with others.
We are a Diocesan STREAM school which means that our Kindergarten through 8th Grade students are enriched with an integrated curriculum of science, technology, religion, engineering, arts, and music. Our students not only learn STREAM, they have experiences through weekly hands-on labs and special guest presentation and field trips to demonstrate the relevancy of what they are learning to real-life. Opportunities for leadership, mentor-ship, and public speaking are frequently offered. Sports beginning in Pre-K and musical instrument lessons are offered as early as Kindergarten.
