I only recently learning about the "fawning" aspect of threat response. All of these are natural responses to a threat. The trick is to recognize your own tendencies and the downsides of staying in one of these states. Get yourself safe and get back in balance as fast as you can.

The wheel of abuse. This is the best version of this that I have seen. Some call it the wheel of power and control. What I like about version is that it breaks things down well. It helps you think of abuse in a new way - especially emotional abuse. I find it a helpful toll. But, I also find it very validating. To see, in black and white, that the way you were treated was wrong and that it's obvious enough for others to see and recognize it as mistreatment means a lot.
