Adventures of Poppy

Hi, friends! Poppy here!

I took a little break from my Alaska adventures for a special side quest with my friend, Tobias. We spent the day at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve!

Now, THIS is the kind of place a dog dreams about. There were winding trails, birds chirping, squirrels that definitely wanted me to chase them (I'm pretty sure), and so many exciting smells!.

Of course, we had to stop by the water. I gave it a thorough inspection and can officially confirm... it's still wet.

I give Griffy Lake four muddy paws out of four! 🐾🐾🐾🐾

Until next time,

Poppy

Adventures of Poppy: High-Flying in Alaska!

Hi, friends! Poppy here!

Guess what?! Today I rode in a HELICOPTER!

Mrs. Armstrong and I flew high above Alaska to see the amazing Mendenhall Glacier. I usually like sticking my head out the car window, but this was a tiny bit higher than I'm used to!

From up in the sky, I could see towering mountains, sparkling blue ice, and glaciers stretching as far as my puppy eyes could see. It felt like flying over a giant frozen dog treat!

I kept looking out the window for mountain goats, bears, or maybe another moose, but I was so busy taking in the view that I almost forgot to wag my tail.

Almost.

Between trains, boats, campfires, sled dogs, and now a helicopter... this Alaska adventure has been paws-itively unforgettable.

I can't wait to see where Mrs. Armstrong takes me next! 🐾

Until next time,

Poppy

Adventures of Poppy: Alaska Edition

Hi, friends! Poppy here!

Mrs. Armstrong took me to Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, where I saw--wait for it--gigantic ice cubs! I thought about bringing one home, but Mrs. Armstrong said it won't fit in my water bowl...

Then we headed to Skagway, where I met some incredible sled dogs. Those pups have muscles! They pull people through the snow while I mostly pull Mrs. Armstrong toward squirrels. We're both working dogs... just in very different ways.

I even tried panning for gold! Everyone else was looking for shiny rocks, but the joke's on them--I don't need a reason to dig. I do it for the love of the game.

But the best part of the day? Sitting by a campfire while everyone made s'mores. I gave my very best "I'm starving" face... but somehow the marshmallows disappeared before they reached me.

Humans are funny like that.

Until next time,

Poppy

Adventures of Poppy: Alaska Edition

Hi, friends! Poppy here!

Wednesday was a BIG day! I took my very first train ride! Mrs. Armstrong and I climbed aboard a glass-topped train from Talkeetna to Whittier, and the views were paws-itively incredible.

Oh and I finally saw a real moose. You may not believe it, but my last moose friend was a wooden carving. But he was so lifelike... I also saw a caribou and two eagles!

After the train ride, I got on a big ship in Portage. All the people there live in one big building that also has a grocery store and school inside. Can you imagine?! I'd never have to go looking for new friends. I'd just wander the hallways collecting pets, belly rubs, and compliments all day long. Wait a second, I already do that at SCA...

Until next time,

Poppy

Denali Diaries: Day 2!

Hi, friends! Poppy here!

Today I saw a moose! (Don't believe what everyone says about them, my friend Moose was paw-some--just a little quiet.)

I finally met one of Alaska's famous sled dogs. Those incredible dogs pull people and freight all around the park! I told him, "I mostly specialize in belly rubs." He didn't say much. I think I stunned him into silence.

The mountains were spectacular all day long, and we wrapped up the evening relaxing by a cozy campfire with majestic Denali (also known as Mount McKinley) watching over us.

I can't wait to see what we'll sniff out next!

Adventures of Poppy: Alaska Edition!

Hi, friends! Poppy here!

Guess what? My best friend, Mrs. Armstrong, took me all the way to Alaska!

Our first stop was Denali National Park! There are giant mountains, fresh mountain air, and enough new smells to keep this girl busy for weeks. I've been on the lookout for bears and moose because everyone kept talking about them. I sniffed and sniffed, but no signs of any.

I think they were all taking naps. I can respect that.

I have a feeling this is just the beginning of our Alaska adventure... so keep an eye out! You never know what I'll sniff out next! πŸ’•

Ta ta for now!
