Head Start of Lane County

We are so grateful that several of our staff had the opportunity to attend the National Head Start Association Conference in Minnesota this month! It was an incredible experience filled with learning, collaboration, and inspiration.
During the conference, our team heard from the new Head Start Director, listened to updates and insights from NHSA leadership, and had the chance to visit different classroom models in St. Paul to gather new ideas and inspiration to bring back to our program.
One of the most meaningful parts of the experience was connecting with professionals from Head Start programs across the country, sharing stories, challenges, and successes that remind us how impactful this work truly is.
We are excited to bring back new ideas, strengthened connections, and renewed energy as we continue supporting children and families in our community!

Estamos muy agradecidos de que varios miembros de nuestro equipo hayan tenido la oportunidad de asistir a la Conferencia Nacional de la Asociación Head Start en Minnesota este mes. Fue una experiencia increíble, llena de aprendizaje, colaboración e inspiración.
Durante la conferencia, nuestro equipo escuchó a la nueva directora de Head Start, recibió información actualizada y perspectivas de los líderes de la NHSA, y tuvo la oportunidad de visitar diferentes modelos de aulas en St. Paul para recopilar nuevas ideas e inspiración para nuestro programa.

¡Cerramos el año escolar con una divertida celebración y dia de campo para todo el personal! Jugamos, hicimos una búsqueda del tesoro, dimos paseos relajantes, bailamos con buena música y disfrutamos de una comida deliciosa juntos. ¡Fue un momento maravilloso para reír, conectar y celebrar el esfuerzo de todos!

We wrapped up the school year with a fun staff celebration and BBQ! We played some games, went on a scavenger hunt, took relaxing wellness walks, danced to some great music, and enjoyed delicious food together. It was such a wonderful time getting to laugh, connect, and celebrate everyone’s hard work!

Grand Street Head Start tuvo el gran placer de organizar la séptima Exposición Anual de Arte este abril. Familias, colaboradores comunitarios y personal se reunieron para celebrar los artes juntos. ¡En total, asistieron casi 200 personas! Los niños de preescolar crearon exhibiciones con collages de la naturaleza; trabajaron durante un largo período de tiempo organizando materiales de técnica mixta para crear un pueblo, y estamparon sus pequeñas huellas de manos en tela para hacer una pancarta para el aula. Las familias mostraron su talento musical en el escenario al aire libre. En la galería de arte, los asistentes disfrutaron de horas de música en vivo de piano y violín. El objetivo de este evento es conectar a los niños y sus familias con la comunidad, y promover las múltiples expresiones y talentos que las artes aportan a nuestras vidas. Los curadores disfrutan enormemente realzando el arte infantil y mostrando a los padres lo que sus hijos pueden hacer año tras año. No podríamos haber llevado a cabo este evento sin la participación de nuestras maravillosas familias, colaboradores comunitarios y personal de Grand Street. Juntos demostramos que con una colaboración intencional podemos crear una experiencia memorable para todos.

Grand Street Head Start took great pleasure in hosting the 7th annual Art Show this April. Families, community partners, and staff gathered to celebrate the arts together. In all, there were nearly 200 attendees! Preschool children crafted displays made of nature collages; they worked for an extended period of time arranging mixed-media materials to create a town, and they placed their tiny handprints on fabric to make a classroom banner. Families showcased their musical talents on the outdoor stage. In the art gallery, attendees were soothed by hours of live music on the piano and the violin. The goal of this event is to connect children and their families with the community, and to promote the many expressions and talents that the arts bring to our lives. Curators take great joy in elevating children's art and showing parents just what their kids can do year after year. We couldn't pull this event off without the participation of our wonderful families, community partners, and Grand Street staff. Together we show that with intentional collaboration we can create a memorable experience for all.
