Happy Juneteenth. Today, we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history.

As an organization dedicated to literacy and lifelong learning, we believe education has the power to open doors, strengthen communities, and create opportunities.

πŸ’šEvery learner has a story.

Luccone has been part of the Literacy Center for about two years. From his very first day, he showed a strong desire to learn, consistently asking questions and taking every opportunity to practice communicating in English.

When he became eligible to work with a tutor, he was excited to begin meeting with Tom. Together, they have built a strong partnership focused on learning and growth.

Over time, Luccone was able to bring his wife and two children to join him in the United States. His wife enrolled in classes right away, and while she attends, Luccone cares for their children nearby.

For Luccone, literacy is about more than learning a language. It is about building a future for his family. He is grateful to be raising his children in a place where they can be safe and supported, especially as they navigate the challenges of caring for a daughter with special needs.

Stories like Luccone's remind us that literacy opens doors, creates opportunities, and helps families build brighter futures together. πŸ’š
