Meet the common blunt-headed tree snake (Imantodes cenchoa). This nocturnal reptile uses its keen eyesight to hunt for prey including small lizards, frogs, and eggs. In fact, this snake’s “googly” eyes can measure up to 25 percent of the length of its head! It can be spotted slithering through the treetops in parts of Central and South America.

The Malayan Brown Snake is a large, slender, and fast-moving colubrid snake found in South Kalimantan’s forests, wetlands, and river edges. It has a brown to reddish body with faint, darker patterns and a pale underside. Adults can grow over 2 meters in length, making them one of the bigger snakes in their range.

This snake is diurnal and semi-aquatic, usually hunting near rivers and swamps. It feeds on fish, frogs, and small vertebrates. Rather than constricting or using venom, it uses quick strikes and agility to catch prey, often ambushing from water or foliage. They are alert and rely on speed and camouflage to hunt and avoid predators.

Malayan Brown Snakes are oviparous, with females laying eggs in hidden, moist areas near water. Hatchlings are fully independent and start hunting small prey immediately. They can live around 10–12 years in the wild.
