New Faculty Spotlight: Welcome Mrs. Jordyn Tavares, our new College Counselor!

What do you enjoy most about being a college counselor?
I find immense joy in walking alongside students and their families as they navigate the exciting journey of the college application experience. I find that serving as a trusted guide and support system during such a pivotal time in a student’s life is deeply rewarding.
What is your best piece of advice for students beginning their college search?
Keep an open mind and embrace every possibility! The college landscape is vast and full of unexpected opportunities, so give yourself permission to explore options you might not have initially considered. You might just find your perfect fit where you least expect it!
What was your own college experience like?
I attended Emmanuel College in Boston and absolutely loved every minute of it! Right in the heart of Fenway, Emmanuel offered the dynamic, fast-paced feel of a major city while maintaining a secure, gated campus that gave it a close-knit, welcoming community atmosphere.
During my time there, I competed on the Cross Country and Track & Field teams and worked as a summer housing assistant, which allowed me to experience Boston year-round. With a small student body, Emmanuel gave me the best of both worlds: intimate class sizes and direct access to top-tier internship opportunities at world-renowned hospitals and universities with a whole city to explore.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
When I’m not helping students pursue their dreams, I love staying active and exploring nature with my family. I have an 8 month old son and it has been so fun to watch him grow. I also am an avid Boston sports fan. One of my favorite places on earth is Fenway Park.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I am so excited to join the Pope community. I look forward to meeting all of my students and families in the coming weeks.
