Celebrating the Beauty of Arabic Language and Culture with Lango Kids Northern Virginia at Friends of Pohick Regional Library.

Towards the end of last year, we had an amazing time celebrating World Arabic Language Day at Pohick Regional Library!

Children and parents joined us for a magical storytime featuring The Arabic Quilt by Egyptian American author Aya Khalil, a heartfelt story about culture, identity, and connection.

After the story, the kids explored the beauty of the Arabic alphabet through a fun and creative craft activity, making unique pieces to take home. The room was filled with laughter, creativity, and curiosity!

A special thank you to our Lango Kids NV teachers, to the amazing team at Pohick Regional Library for hosting us and providing such a welcoming space, and most importantly, to the wonderful children and their parents who came out to share in this celebration. Your enthusiasm and participation made this event truly unforgettable!

Week 3 of Summer Camp at Lango Kids Northern Virginia was an incredible journey to Puerto Rico! Our campers had a blast learning and exploring this vibrant culture. Here's what we did:

- Located Puerto Rico on the map.
- Discovered San Juan, the capital city.
- Unraveled the symbolism behind the Puerto Rican flag.
- Learned about traditional clothing with our guide, Paco.
- Studied Plaza Colón and San Juan's beautiful buildings.
- Created colorful buildings inspired by Barrio San Juan.
- Virtually visited Castillo San Felipe del Morro and its lighthouse.
- Learned about manatees at La Laguna and watched a fascinating video.

Next week, the adventure continues with:

- Puerto Rican cuisine
- Taíno Indians
- The coquí frog

Our second week of Lango Kids Northern Virginia Summer Camp was a blast! We wrapped up our exploration of Ecuador with amazing activities:

⭑ Learned about the majestic Cotopaxi volcano
⭑ Tried delicious traditional Ecuadorian cuisine
⭑ Took a virtual trip to Otavalo’s artisanal market
⭑ Enjoyed the traditional dance of El Pasillo
⭑ Made music with our own rondadores
⭑ Had a fun trip to Sky Zone Springfield VA for some trampoline excitement
