Mrs. Finn’s 2nd Graders turned math into a delicious adventure with M&M Graphing! 🎉

Our Bulldogs graphed their M&M data and then put their math skills to work—identifying the most, least, fewest, and greatest, while comparing their data to answer questions like “How many more?” 🧠📈

Hands-on learning + math talk + a little chocolate = a SWEET way to learn! 🐾💙

Things got a little bubbly in Mrs. Schimmel and Mrs. McDaniel’s 5th Grade Science class! 💥🔬

Mrs. Schimmel’s homeroom got to become real-life scientists as they made elephant toothpaste to explore the exciting world of chemical changes! 🧪🧠✨

With lots of bubbles, big reactions, and even bigger smiles, our Bulldogs were able to see science in action while investigating what happens when substances undergo a chemical change. 👀💡

This past Friday, we started the morning with our New Student Breakfast! Our new Bulldogs enjoyed donuts and juice while our Bulldog Ambassadors helped everyone get to know each other with a fun Skittles game.

It was a sweet way to start the day, make new friends, and help our newest students feel right at home at Springfield Elementary! 💙🐾

🔎✨ Kindergarten Mathematicians at Work! ✨🔎

Mrs. Waletzcko’s kindergarten mathematicians are learning that there’s more than one way to look at an object! 🧠🔢

This week, students are practicing how to sort objects by their attributes—looking closely at characteristics such as color, shape, size, and type. 🌈🔵🔺📏

But they’re not just sorting…they’re becoming mathematical thinkers! 💭 Students are learning that the same objects can be sorted in different ways and are practicing explaining how and why they decided to make their groups. 🗣️✨

We love seeing our youngest Bulldogs look closely, think deeply, and explain their thinking! 🐾💙

🌟🐾 Building a Classroom Family in Ms. Clark’s Class! 🐾🌟

Our first graders are starting the school year by building something truly special—a classroom family where EVERY Bulldog belongs!

On the very first day of school, students worked together to create a Classroom Family Positivity Poster filled with positive words, actions, and our 6 R’s—all the ingredients for creating a classroom where everyone feels loved, respected, supported, and encouraged to grow. 🌱✨

These young Bulldogs are learning that when we work together, lift one another up, celebrate each other, and choose kindness and positivity, we create a place where EVERYONE has the opportunity to learn, grow, and SHINE! 🌟💫

Here’s to a school year filled with kindness, teamwork, positivity, friendship, and BIG learning! 📚💙

SES welcomes the same face to a new role at SES! Help us welcome Mrs. Kari Helmly as our new Family Engagement Specialist!
Mrs. Helmly is excited to begin a new chapter at Springfield Elementary as the Family Engagement Specialist! 💙 She has been blessed to call SES home for the past 10 years, serving as a 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and Ag teacher. Springfield is especially near and dear to her heart—not only do her own children attend SES, but she was once a Springfield Bulldog herself! 🐾 Mrs. Helmly looks forward to serving our students, families, and school community in this new role!

SES welcomes Ms. Brittany King as our new School Social Worker. Ms. King is so excited to join SES as a new School Social Worker, serving both Effingham County Middle School and Springfield Elementary School! Being born and raised in Effingham County and growing up in this school district makes this opportunity especially meaningful to her. She recently earned her Master’s degree in Social Work, along with a certificate in Trauma-Informed Care. Ms. King previously worked at Encompass Academy and completed her social work internship with the Effingham County School District. Growing up in a big family, she has always had a passion for working with children and supporting others.
Ms. King is truly honored to have the opportunity to serve the community she calls home and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with students and families, providing support, and being a safe and welcoming space for all. Ms. King is so grateful to be part of SES and excited for a wonderful school year! Welcome, Ms. King!
