Springfield Public Schools' Chifin Native Youth Center has openings for their free Native Summer Camp starting TOMORROW!

▪ This camp is for Native students of all ages attending SPS (K-12).
▪ Camp is Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
▪ Hamlin Middle School, 326 Centennial Blvd.
▪ Native Summer Camp is free! Breakfast and lunch are provided.
Special events:
▪ Wednesday, students will be bussed to the Springfield Library Fountain Plaza to attend the Tribally Influenced Music & Culture event.
▪ Thursday, local artists will provide special instruction.

The Springfield Drifters Baseball team, in partnership with Hope Project are hosting a backpack and school supply giveaway this upcoming Monday, August 5th. The first 500 students get a free backpack filled with school supplies. All SPS students get in free to the game.

The Drifters have given Guy Lee 100 tickets for family members who are not SPS students. Stop by the school today (August 2nd) before 4pm to pick them up, or, look for someone wearing a Guy Lee or AANHPI shirt by the gate at the game. Please let us know if you would like to pick up tickets at the game so we know how many to set aside.

> Gametime is 6:35pm at Hamlin Middle School Sports Complex.
> Backpack Giveaway starts at 5:30pm at the North Gate (closest to Hamlin Middle School)

Hola familias de Guy Lee,

El equipo de béisbol Springfield Drifters, en asociación con Hope Project, está organizando una entrega de mochilas y útiles escolares el próximo lunes 5 de agosto. Los primeros 500 estudiantes recibirán una mochila gratis llena de útiles escolares. Todos los estudiantes de SPS entran gratis.

Los Drifters le han dado a Guy Lee 100 boletos para los miembros de la familia que no sean estudiantes de SPS. Pase por la escuela hoy (2 de agosto) antes de las 4:00 p. m. para recogerlos o busque a alguien que use una camiseta de Guy Lee o AANHPI junto a la puerta del juego. Háganos saber si desea recoger boletos en el juego para que sepamos cuántos apartar.

> La hora del juego es a las 6:35 p. m. en el complejo deportivo de la escuela secundaria Hamlin.

Bus registration for 24-25 is now open!

Who is an eligible bus rider? Elementary students who live more than one mile from their school and middle and high school students who live more than one and a half miles from their school.

Don't delay - more families registering sooner means fewer necessary adjustments to routes and stop times at the start of the school year.

Hamlin Middle School's SPARK program is partnering with Healthy Moves for their grant funded after school program. This allows 6th-8th graders the opportunity to get more physical movement and sports skills by working with Healthy Moves trainers such as Ava and Helena, here getting ready to get the kids moving!

The Oregon SPARK program is a statewide system that is improving the quality of child care and early learning programs in Oregon and Healthy Moves will continue at Hamlin through the end of the school year.

Join us this Thursday at Hamlin Middle School - Springfield, OR

This year’s celebration of two great human rights leaders, Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, will take place at Hamlin Middle School on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. The annual Dolores Huerta / Cesar Chavez Celebration is hosted by Springfield Public Schools, together with the Springfield Alliance for Equity and Respect (SAfER).

Students will provide entertainment at the bilingual event. The celebration also highlights student artwork and writing. People will also have the opportunity to enjoy delicious refreshments. All are welcome to attend this free community event.

Students of all ages, from across the district, have been invited to submit creative projects inspired by the lives of Huerta and Chavez to be included in a gallery of student work.

The theme for this year's artwork and essays is: “Together, all things are possible.”
