Springfield College PEHE celebrated this weekend at the MAHPERD Banquet! Congratulations to seniors MJ McGillicuddy and Emma Gagne on being 2 of only 5 students across the state to be named as Outstanding Future Professionals! Prof. Naomi Graves was honored with the Inspirational Pathfinder Award for her contributions to athletics, including the way she has blazed the trail for future generations. Dr. Michelle Moosbrugger received the Sheryl Hall Distinguished Service Award for service to the field and reflecting the values of kindness, generosity, and hard work. Alum Kerri Smith received the MAHPERD Honor Award for her amazing work in the field of physical education. Way to go, SCPEHE!

Simeone To Be Inducted Into Western Massachusetts Baseball Hall of Fame - Springfield College Springfield, Mass. - February 29, 2024 - The Western Massachusetts Baseball Hall of Fame has announced the 11th annual class to be inducted on March 7, 2024 at Twin Hills Country Club and Springfield College head baseball coach Mark Simeone will be among the five individuals who will be honored.

Prof. Tanner DeVarennes introduced the PEPC 270: Racket Sports: Net and Wall Games class to Palmball. This week, the class was treated to a visit by Palmball creator and Western Massachusetts resident Steve Creelman! Palmball is an awesome way to engage people in lifelong movement with so many modification opportunities. Thank you to Steve Creelman, and great job to Prof. DeVarennes and the PEPC 270 students!

Youth in Motion today! Springfield College's East Campus Outdoor Learning Center hosted SC alums and students from 8 high schools across MA (as close as Springfield's SciTech and Putnam, and as far as Somerville and Needham). The alumni health and physical educators and school counselors engaged in professional development on supporting students' mental health. The students experienced leadership development on the challenge course and explored careers involving physical activity, health, and sport. The future of our professions is bright given how impressive these students are!
