My nerdiest 4yo insisted that the "p" stands for Pluto not piano. Finally got him to acknowledge that perhaps this Pluto is a soft/quiet planet? 😆
I teach piano with emphasis on note-reading, playing expressively, with healthy technique, as well as ear-training, problem solving, and motor skills.
I have been teaching piano for 10+ years to students as young as 3 and as old as 70. I have worked with individuals with dyslexia and vision impairments and am open to other teaching individuals with other difficulties. I have a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Missouri State University. I am a very nurturing individual and work well with children

Three cheers to the student who has been watching me get cranky at my dying highlighters all year. She brought these in as a Christmas present. 😂

A wonderfully expressive article about being an adult piano student

Note-Reading I’ve noticed my young students are particularly adept imitators and not entirely convinced about the usefulness of reading. Persuading a 5 year old that reading music is a practical skill is …

Student: I'm gonna draw mustaches on every letter.
Me: But what if some of them are girl letters?
Student: EVERYBODY needs a mustache!
