Take Action Now!
The Department of Education has announced plans to move OSERS to the Department of Health and Human Services and OCR to the Department of Justice.
CASE believes both offices belong in the Department of Education. OSERS administers IDEA, and OCR helps ensure students' rights under federal education laws are protected. These critical responsibilities should remain under the leadership of education experts.
📢 Contact your Members of Congress today and urge them to keep OSERS and OCR where they belong—at the Department of Education. https://www.casecec.org/action-center

Data helps us see where students need support! Take a look at this article in K12 Dive regarding the U.S. Department of Education and IDEA Data Collections.
CASE is speaking up about the U.S. Department of Education’s proposal to eliminate several IDEA data indicators that track disparities in special education identification, discipline, and student outcomes.
In our public comments, CASE emphasized that this information plays an important role in helping schools identify inequities and improve services for students with disabilities. We support efforts to reduce unnecessary reporting burdens, but we also believe that eliminating key data points could make it harder to spot problems and address them effectively.
Reliable data helps educators, families, and policymakers make informed decisions and work toward better outcomes for all students.
