St. Raphael School History:
The first school served students through the 8th grade and was run by two Sisters from the order of the Sisters of St. From 1919 to 1929, the Sisters also operated a school for high school students. In 1939, a new modern St. Raphael grade school was b

uilt. This structure is still part of the present facility. The building was expanded in 1964 to double the number of classrooms. In that same year, the first Board of Education was established. Edward Tauer, Lester Krueger. Tom Miesen, Gilbert Schmitz, Arnold Hillesheim, Dr. H.T. Mohr, Frank Weber Jr., and Dr. F.J. Boyle served on the Board of Education. In 1990, the junior high portion of the school was discontinued and a kindergarten was established. Offerings for young children were expanded in 2000, with the addition of the Little Angels Pre-Kindergarten. This program was replaced in 2009 with the Little Panthers Preschool. Since 1900, St. Raphael’s Catholic School has built on its tradition of excellence and we continue to it offer a faith-based education for area families.

🎉 We’re Off to a Great Start! 💚🐾

Yesterday, we officially kicked off another wonderful school year at St. Raphael Catholic School! We were blessed to begin the year together in prayer with a special Mass celebrated by Bishop Zielinski.

And the excitement continues today as we welcome our preschoolers back to school! We are so happy to have our halls and classrooms filling once again with learning, laughter, faith, and friendship.

There is so much to look forward to this year, and we can’t wait to see all that our students will learn, accomplish, and experience together.

We are still accepting shoe donations through Wednesday, August 12! Our shoes are being picked up a little sooner than expected, so if you have any remaining donations, please be sure to drop them off by Wednesday.

🎉 Exciting News from St. Raphael Catholic School! 🎉

It is with great joy that we share that Jennifer Cassidy has been named the next principal of St. Raphael Catholic School! 💚

Jennifer brings more than 20 years of experience serving as a principal in Catholic schools throughout the Twin Cities and comes to us very highly regarded. We are excited to welcome her leadership, experience, and commitment to Catholic education to our St. Raphael community.

We will be sharing a more formal announcement and introduction at the beginning of next week, but we simply couldn’t wait to share this wonderful news with all of you!

✨ A Fresh Look for Our Classrooms! ✨

We are excited to share photos of the wonderful updates recently completed in Mrs. Heiling’s classroom and Mrs. Anderson’s classroom!

Thanks to the generosity of those who donated to the Fund-a-Need at "A Night in Havana," we were able to install new carpeting in both classrooms, add new lighting, and refresh the spaces with updated paint. These improvements have created brighter, more welcoming environments where our students can learn and grow.

We are incredibly grateful to every donor who helped make these projects possible. We also extend a heartfelt thank-you to the volunteers who generously gave their time and talents to help complete the work.

There is still time to take advantage of St. Raphael Catholic School’s Family Enrollment Incentive for the 2026–27 school year.

Families enrolling may receive:

💚 $500 off tuition for a student enrolled in preschool

👟 We’re in the final stretch of our Shoe Drive! 👟

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our St. Raphael community, we have already collected 107 bags of shoes. Our goal is 130 bags, which means we only need 23 more!

Can you help us reach the finish line? Shoes may be dropped off in the Gathering Space anytime through August 10th.
