St. Raphael Catholic School Spfd St. Raphael’s Catholic School is a parochial school in Springfield, MN providing a rigorous faith- It is the mission of St. Francis from Rochester, MN. Mrs.

Jesus, while providing excellent education

St. Raphael School History:
The first school served students through the 8th grade and was run by two Sisters from the order of the Sisters of St. From 1919 to 1929, the Sisters also operated a school for high school students. In 1939, a new modern St. Raphael grade school was built. This structure is still part of the present facility. The building was expanded in 1964 to double the number of classrooms. In that same year, the first Board of Education was established. Edward Tauer, Lester Krueger. Tom Miesen, Gilbert Schmitz, Arnold Hillesheim, Dr. H.T. Mohr, Frank Weber Jr., and Dr. F.J. Boyle served on the Board of Education. In 1990, the junior high portion of the school was discontinued and a kindergarten was established. Offerings for young children were expanded in 2000, with the addition of the Little Angels Pre-Kindergarten. This program was replaced in 2009 with the Little Panthers Preschool. Since 1900, St. Raphael’s Catholic School has built on its tradition of excellence and we continue to it offer a faith-based education for area families.

Our 14th Annual Steeple Stops Prayer Walk is tomorrow, October 9 at 12:30 p.m., and there is still time to support our Panthers!

Our K–6 students will walk together through Springfield, stopping at each “steeple” for prayers led by students and staff. It’s one of our favorite St. Raphael traditions and a beautiful afternoon of faith, community, and JOY.

Our 3rd through 6th grade students had the exciting opportunity to visit and tour Highwater Ethanol near Lamberton. During the tour, students learned about the entire process of turning corn into ethanol and explored each stage along the way from the corn arriving at the plant to the production of ethanol.

The students were fascinated by the process and especially enjoyed seeing the equipment and operations firsthand. They were able to ask questions, make connections to what they have learned in science and agriculture, and see how a crop grown right here in our area can be transformed into a product used every day.

This hands-on experience provided our students with a meaningful connection between agriculture, science, engineering, and real-world careers. They had a blast and were incredibly engaged throughout the entire tour!

🎨 Creating Art One Piece at a Time!

Our students got creative in art class by using a simple material in a whole new way—ripped paper!

Instead of drawing or painting, students tore pieces of paper into different shapes, sizes, and textures and then arranged them to create their own unique images. It was a fun way to practice creativity, problem-solving, and attention to detail while seeing how small pieces can come together to make something beautiful.

💚 We’re Hiring! Join the St. Raphael Team! 💚

Do you enjoy working with kids and want a fun way to support our school community? Our Tiny Saints Daycare is looking for a substitute to help Monday–Friday from 3:00–5:00 PM.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys spending time with young children and wants a flexible, part-time role. Training is provided, and applicants must be 18 years or older.

Our students are getting ready for one of our favorite St. Raphael traditions — the 14th Annual Steeple Stops Prayer Walk on Friday, October 9 at 12:30 p.m.

During the walk, our K–6 students will travel together past the “steeples” of Springfield, stopping along the way for prayers led by students and staff. It’s a beautiful afternoon of faith, community, and school spirit — and everyone is invited to walk with us!

👟💚 What an incredible Shoe Drive! 💚👟

A huge thank you to everyone who donated shoes and helped make this fundraiser such a success! Because of your generosity, we surpassed our goal and raised $1,735 for St. Raphael Catholic School! 🎉

We are especially grateful to Kathy Hillesheim and Max Meine for all of the time, effort, and organization they put into making this fundraiser happen. Thank you for supporting our school in such a meaningful way!

And now… it’s never too early to start thinking ahead. 😉 Start saving those shoes for next year’s drive! We can’t wait to do it again.
