In 1998, the Italian Supreme Court overturned a r**e conviction. They explained that since the survivor was wearing tight jeans, she must have consented by helping the ra**st remove her jeans. In response, members of the Italian Parliament wore jeans the following day.
In 1999 Peace Over Violence established Denim Day, now an annual event to spread awareness and protest the treatment of sexual assault survivors.

AD Torrie presented the Clothesline Project on the quad today. These shirts raise awareness for sexual assault and domestic violence.
