Effingham County UGA Cooperative Extension The Effingham County Extension Office delivers educational programming in the areas of: Agriculture and Natural Resources and 4-H Youth Development.

UGA Cooperative Extension was founded in 1914 to take research-based agricultural information to the people of Georgia. Through the cooperative funding of federal, state and county governments, Extension agents are in almost every county in Georgia. County agents and specialists throughout the state share information on issues like water quality, profitability in agribusiness, family wellness and ...life skills. UGA Cooperative Extension coordinates 4-H, Georgia's largest youth program. Each year, almost 200,000 young Georgians participate in community projects, summer camps and conferences on today's issues while having fun and learning to work together. The leadership skills and responsible values they learn in 4-H last a lifetime.

Want to start the season of giving a little early? Help us bring joy to children in Effingham County as we kick off our 3rd Annual Toy & Coat Drive! Collection will begin now and run through November 2.

This year, we are once again hosting our 4-H Holiday Shop, where parents can personally select gifts for their elementary aged children, helping make the holidays extra special for their families. Wrapping services or materials will also be provided.

With Prime Days happening now, it's the perfect opportunity to grab a deal and help make a child's Christmas wish come true. Every toy, coat, and donation helps spread a little more holiday magic throughout our community.

A wish list of popular gift items and school appropriate coats can be found at:
https://tinyurl.com/4HHolidayShop26

Donations also can be accepted in our office located at 601 N Laurel Street in Springfield. Dates for the Holiday Shop will be announced this fall.

On Wednesday, 4 of our 5 Effingham County 4-H'ers who will be competing at State Congress in July attended the Southeast District Winners Workshop!

These outstanding youth will proudly represent both Southeast District 4-H and Effingham County 4-H as they compete against the best Senior 4-H'ers from across Georgia.

Throughout the workshop participants focused on fine-tuning their presentations, sharpening interview skills, and learning valuable etiquette tips to help them put their best foot forward at State Congress. They also had the opportunity to network with fellow district winners, gain confidence, and prepare for the exciting challenges ahead.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication and can't wait to see them showcase their talents in July. Good luck!

The wall says it all! A huge THANK YOU to these 4-H’ers and their families for spending a part of their Saturday bagging groceries for the Brown Bag program at Second Harvest. They didn’t just “think” about making a difference, they chose to show up and act. Proud to say we helped bag 1400 brown bags for senior citizens this morning.

We are so proud of Eli for sharing his enthusiasm for 4-H and helping younger youth discover the wonders of the night sky. Seeing our 4-H'ers step into leadership roles, give back to their community, and inspire curiosity in others is what 4-H is all about.
