Senior BSN feature! Today’s senior & soon-to-be graduate is Ron. Following graduation, he plans to work as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, or as an intensive care nurse at UC Health. Senior BSN feature! Today’s senior & soon-to-be graduate is Lillyan. Following graduation, she plans to work as a labor and delivery or postpartum nurse in Dayton. After gaining experience, Lillyan plans to earn a graduate degree to become a women’s health nurse practitioner. While at Witt, she was a pitcher for the softball team for four years and the President of the nursing club. She was also inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Tri-Alpha national honor society. Lillyan’s favorite memory of Witt is the countless laughs, memories made, and friends that she’s gained from the program who she will forever cherish; she particularly loved study sessions in the library, clinical drives, jokes in the classroom, and when she and Ron had to smell her shirt for something that didn’t smell quite right when they were doing wound care at Miami Valley. Lillyan would like to thank her mom for being her rock and greatest inspiration, her brother for being her motivation, and her grandmas, Cindy and Karen, for being her biggest cheerleaders. She’d also like to thank her fiancé, Owen, for keeping her sane and always being there; the nursing professors for encouraging her and being the best people she could have ever asked for to be her inspiration for what amazing nurses look like; and her cohort for being her shoulders to lean on and her best friends who pushed her every day to do her best. Senior BSN feature! Today’s senior & soon-to-be graduate is Molly. Following graduation, she will be practicing as a progressive care unit nurse at Miami Valley Hospital South. While at Witt, she played women’s basketball in 2022-2023, served as a Fitness Center employee, and worked as a faculty aide for the Director of Nursing. Molly’s favorite memory of Witt will always be the random conversations she and her cohort had between classes while they were all sleep-deprived and slap-happy. Molly would like to thank her mom and dad for always believing in her; her sisters for always helping her see the bright side; her fiance for always pushing her to be her best; her roommates Rachel, Cadence, and Jorja for always making her feel like she wasn’t going through school alone; her professors; and her nursing cohort for becoming the extra family she didn’t know she needed, and will never forget. She was president of the ASL club, and a member and secretary of SAAC. She volunteered in the emergency department at Mercy Springfield, and with the American Red Cross with their Armed Forces. Emma’s favorite memory of Witt has been participating in post-conferences after clinical, hearing and sharing about clinical experiences, and learning while laughing with each other. Emma would like to thank her parents and grandparents for giving her all their love and support; her siblings for being patient and understanding; her younger sister for hearing about Emma’s crazy stories and silly mistakes, as well as being her breath of fresh air in the whirlwind of nursing school; her professors for believing in her, having patience, helping her find her footing, and realizing her own strength. In the future, Andrew plans to earn a graduate degree in nursing to practice as a nurse practitioner. While at Witt, he played football for three years and worked in the nursing simulation lab. Andrew’s favorite memory of Witt is hard to isolate because there are countless memories to reflect on: the 6 AM hikes to clinical, every late-night study session, and, most importantly … every crash out in the Science Center post-exam. If he had to pick one memory as the best, it would be the yap sessions with the gang every Thursday. Andrew would like to thank his family for always supporting him, as well as his friends and the nursing faculty for sticking with him over the past 4 years. John would like to thank Professors Short, Gilson, and Bonar for never giving up on him, and giving him the push he needed while making time to teach him things he needed help with.
