Climate change through the lens of intergenerational, racial, and global justice?
How does thinking in terms of justice alter our understanding of climate change as an environmental phenomenon – or does it?
This topics course will explore these and related questions, drawing upon a growing body of research that spans the social and natural sciences, as well as the products of a burgeoning movement that brings environmentalism together with a surprising range of other issues. Examining those connections is therefore a crucial piece of understanding why climate is being linked with justice, why addressing climate change at all has been such a struggle in recent years, and what may be viable pathways forward. Foundational concepts and methods from environmental studies, political science, and communication will support developing your own understanding of the connections and commitments implicit in the notion of climate justice.
Registration available next week!
