Where does your drinking water come from? 💧

Before water ever reaches the treatment plant, there’s a source that needs to be protected. Kentucky’s public water systems rely on 226 permitted surface, spring, and groundwater sources to provide drinking water to communities across the Commonwealth. Nearly 95% of those sources are surface water or springs.

Source water protection is an important part of keeping those sources clean, reliable, and available for the communities that depend on them.

This Source Water Protection Week, we’re recognizing the work utilities and communities are doing to protect the water sources we all rely on. 💪

Edit: As of 10/2/2026 at 11:50 am the boil water advisory has been lifted!

We currently have a main break in town. We will be issuing a boil water advisory for all of the city zone customers once the leak is fixed and water is restored.

This week is Source Water Protection Week! Source Water Protection Week's goal is to raise awareness about keeping rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and underground wells free from pollution to ensure safe and affordable drinking water.

Edit: Sunday 1:30pm the boil water advisory has been lifted!

Our distribution crew is actively working on a main break.
The areas affected by a boil water advisory currently are 5344-6234 Mackville Road, all of Fowler Lane, all of Kelly Shop Road, and all of Fenwick Lane.
Calls, texts or door tags have went out to all customers affected. You can also check the comments for a link for active boil water advisories. Thank you again to our dedicated staff who always ensures we have safe drinking water!

Quick Tip 3: Keep It Clean 🧽
Regular septic system inspections and pumping are vital. The EPA recommends having your septic system inspected every three years by a licensed professional and pumped every three to five years, depending on your household size and usage. This prevents the buildup of solids that can clog your system and cause failures.
