At this month’s cluster meeting we welcomed Joryanis from Columbia! She arrived just 4 days ago. Elizabeth shared that she will be attending Au pair weekend in New York in April. Astrid shared that she will not be extending at the end of her match this year. We will miss her but wish her well!

We talked about the importance of caring for yourself while caring for children. I have so much respect for these young women who chose to temporarily say goodbye to their families and home country to embark on the Au pair journey. They provide excellent child care for their host families!

At this month’s cluster meeting we shared lunch and great conversations. We talked about some of the challenges unique to being an au pair and how to persevere through them. We talked about the importance of taking good care of yourself in all ways (mentally, emotionally, and physically) so that you can continue to provide the best care possible to the children under your watch. Lastly, we discussed the value of schedules and routines for children that includes dedicated time to focus on a child’s social/emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
