Young singers training in this studio have continued their studies in classical voice and musical theatre programs at fine schools such as Peabody Conservatory, Northwestern University, Indiana University, Carnegie Mellon University, Boston Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory, Julliard, Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Elon, Ithaca, Emerson, North Carolina School of the Arts, NYU, Catholic University, and more. Laurie Nelson has received 3 presidential citations for excellence in education by the Governor’s School for Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Richmond and she has been a featured teacher in the publication “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” annually since 2005. Brad Davis has an extensive background as a drummer in the Washington DC metropolitan area, and has been teaching drums for 25 years in Northern Virginia. Davis attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and has enjoyed performing in a wide variety of musical venues ranging from rock and roll, to musical theatre and opera. While at VA Tech, Mr. Davis wrote drum parts, coached and played in the drum line. Davis was both the drummer, and a vocalist in the DC area band, “The Mode” for 10 years. He has also played with Baby Face Nelson, The Brent Buckley Band, Collage de Vie, and is currently the drummer and a vocalist with the Virginia based band “Accidental Charm” which recently released their 4th CD. CDs are available for sale on itunes and CD baby. Students of Mr. Davis have attended Carnegie Mellon, Berklee, Virginia Tech, VCU, University of Virginia, West Virginia University, Florida State University and more. Many students are also drummers with area bands in local venues.
