It's worth sharing this great post from Jerry Kruse, MD, MSPH, dean and provost of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and CEO of SIU Medicine, the faculty practice plan of SIU School of Medicine.

“Voting rights, women’s rights, reproductive rights, environmental rights . . . the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are all topics of hot debate. Our retreat to absolutism has made these rights more vulnerable to decay than they’ve been in more than a century. Our best tools for unity are rusting away.”

But all is not lost. In Sunday’s State Journal-Register, Dr. Jerry Kruse shares some learned opinions about using an open-minded approach – and all the tools in the toolbox – to tackle the numerous polarizing issues that are troubling Americans.
