Springfield Public Schools and Chartwells K12 Celebrate Summer with Free Community Summer Splash Event will feature fresh local food, family activities, music, games, and giveaways
Springfield Public Schools and Chartwells K12 invite Springfield students, families, and community members to celebrate summer during the free Summer Splash Community Event on Friday, July 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Forest Park.
The event helps mark Springfield Public Schools' new partnership with Chartwells K12 while celebrating the district's commitment to providing fresh, nutritious, locally inspired meals. Building on the strong foundation established through Home Grown Springfield, the district’s partnership with Chartwells K12 will expand opportunities for nutrition education, student engagement, culinary innovation, career connected learning, and enhanced dining experiences.
Together, Springfield Public Schools and Chartwells K12 are committed to creating an inclusive dining experience that supports student wellness, strengthens community connections, and ensures all students feel welcomed and encouraged to participate.
Fresh, yummy, summer meals are on tap for the event this year. Summer Splash attendees will enjoy a menu of chicken tacos served on locally made tortillas, fresh pico de gallo, salsa and sour cream, black bean salad made with locally sourced beans, grilled local corn on the cob, and fresh watermelon.
Throughout the event, families can also enjoy music, co****le, games, raffles, giveaways, and meet the teams behind the district's school meals program.
