The Nature Save Initiative over at 5 Mile Pond was a great turnout. We were able to pickup of plenty of trash from this beautiful park. The biggest importance was showing up for one another and bring awareness of what needs to be done.

This is only the first step of getting the park back into shape. With understanding that nothing is resolved over night. We have a community that is dedicated to keeping out parks clean.

With 6 years the park being under maintenance we want to make sure we help our community because we can't do it alone.

The next steps are continuing to connect with those that believe in keeping the park clean and green! SHARE this with someone you know who is a nature lover 🌳✨

The Nature Save Initiative for 5 Mile Pond was a great turnout! We had tons of great people connecting and supporting to clean up the park after it being abandoned for 6 years!

Shout to Juan Latorre, Jeromie Whalen and Pioneer Valley Expedition & Adventure Klub crew for coming through to support and make this a more wholesome experience 🫢🏽

Currently the next steps is continuing to find the people who are willing to get this park back and running again but at a better level. There is a lot of work that the city of Springfield needs to get done and this is definitely one of them.

As we have a couple of people that are on board, we are always looking for more ways to get involved help our beautiful parks. Looking forward to continuing to the next steps for 5 Mile Pond! TBA soon

Thank you Pioneer Valley Expedition & Adventure Klub for coming together with us to clean up 5 Mile Pond!

5 Mile Pond has been closed for 6 years and it hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. The recreational area has a lack of design to limit the risk of illegal dumping and trash being thrown on the ground.

The park was initially closed due to COVID back in 2020 and reopened without notice. It has been mentioned by the city of Springfield, they hired 2 people to clean the parking lot area however, there is a presumption that there was no attention to the park overall.

Most people aren't aware of 5 Mile Pond being right of of Boston Road across from Walmart. And this is one of the only parks in Springfield where people can get a good swim.

It is important we become diligent to keep are parks clean, and ask questions when we don't see any efforts being put in.

5 Mile Pond cleanup this weekend was a great turnout! Much love for everyone who came and volunteered their time to support the Nature Save Initiative.

Friends came together, families, and overall people who are looking in the same direction. Cleaning the park was our due diligence, and it is one of the fundamentals that make a community. Not because of cleaning but because it's about doing it together, to get there we need to understand what's at stake.

A community grows with responsibility (the ability to respond) and we did just that! What really made this wholesome was everyone getting to know each other, laughing, smiling even when what's at hand can feel discouraging.

Altogether, we are striving to bring back our parks, make them sustainable by design and infrastructure. Again, thank you to all of those who came, shared a post, told one another and those who have faith.

Onto the next step, bless

This is just of the reasons why 5 Mile Pond needs some TLC. This is what happens when a park is not maintained after a long period of time. It's a perfect example of its more work to recover something then it is to maintain it.

After 6 years 5 Mile Pond now needs even more work since it wasn't being maintained. Now the stakes are higher, the need to clean the park, renovate, redesign and so much more. I assure you if it was maintained we would be on the next step to making it better however first we need to keep it clean.

This 48 arce park has plants, animals and overall is a recreational area that has plenty of potential of being utilized through the community for many benefits. This Saturday I look forward to seeing everyone at 1:30 to bring awareness and hold the people accountable.

This SATURDAY 7/25 from 1:30p-3p we are visiting 5mile Pond to cleanup and bring awareness to this beautiful park.

5mile has been closed for 6 years, the cuty of Springfield proposed a 22-27 recreational plan and they started May 20th, 2026. As we visit this park as a community we will see what has been getting done and most importantly what hasn't been getting done.

As a community it is important for us to hold people accountable for those that are responsible for maintaining the park clean and keeping it updated to ensure the community is comfortable.

This is the first step to bringing awareness and standing up for our nature because that's the big picture. We do not need more abandoned parks, we need sustainable, clean and GREEN parks that make people want to keep visiting. With 5mile being 48 acres big, this is a pretty BIG deal.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there, state representatives, nature lovers, and people who care about accessibility to our public parks.

Games & Poetry was fun! We are grateful to have those who came through with friends and shared an experience together ✨

We had 2 who found the golden egg and won a wellness care package, we had some riddles for hints and you guys found it!

There were some who shared their poetry pieces for the first time, which was a wholesome moment. Thank you for all who shared their creativity in the crowd!

Overall, G&P is all about engaging with one another, putting the phones down, and connecting with the experience. We look forward to integrating more activities for future events, and create memories🀞🏽
