The SC International Center hosted a "Taste of Japan" dinner on Monday, October 20, with visiting students from our sister school in Hokkaido, Japan, who prepared a traditional Japanese chicken curry meal for all to enjoy. 
It provided a wonderful opportunity for students and faculty and staff from both institutions to relax over a delicious warm meal on a crisp autumn night while sharing culture and conversation.

As part of Homecoming, Mary-Beth Cooper and the Board of Trustees unveiled a portrait of former Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn.
Flynn served as the 12th president of Springfield College and community tribute greatly to the development of the institution and the modernization of facilities to better equip students for leadership in servicetohumanity.
Dr. Flynn and his wife, Jani, continue to support student leadership programs on campus to this day.

Ahead of Ruth E. Carter speaking Thursday as the annual Arts and Humanities Speaker, students in Springfield College Seminar explored Carter's history and career, examined the evolution of her style, and then used what they learned in their research to craft costumes that spoke to the elements of her art and life that resonated with them. We spoke about the research and exploration Carter speaks of in her own work to see what it takes to move from design to a completed work of art. Creativity, curiosity, and a good sense of challenge and fun are essential to student (and life) success!
