What began as Dr. Poage’s innovative idea to empower students, amplify their voices, and connect our school community has grown into something truly impactful. Through dedication, creativity, and a willingness to think beyond traditional communication methods, Dr. Poage’s vision of launching a student-led podcast at John Tyson Elementary School has now earned recognition at the state level. Secretary Oliva invited the hosts of Tiger Talk to be recognized (for their support of veterans) at the Arkansas State Board of Education meeting in Little Rock. This accomplishment reflects not only the success of the podcast itself, but also the leadership, encouragement, and forward-thinking mindset that made it possible. These EASTies are grateful for a principal who inspires innovation and creates meaningful opportunities for students to shine. They made special memories in Little Rock with their family members, Dr. Poage, community partner Mrs. Dorothy Cardiel from VFW Post 2952 Auxiliary Springdale, members of the EAST Initiative staff, and each other.
