Another example of all the amazing opportunities students in our school receive throughout their time at DTSOI!

Congratulations to our Vex Robotics team 1616X on their Qualification for the Vex Robotics State Championship in March. They won the tournament at Bentonville West and were crowned Tournament Champions!

We've been busy in the PLTW Gateway Lab for 6th and 7th grade recently!

We have been doing basic skills training (drills,hammers, pneumatics) with Mr. McClain in the carpentry lab the past few days last week.

We also have begun our minecraft team design projects using Isometric Drawings and mapping blueprints with accurate measurements.

We are also very excited to have Michael Toland from the Harrison Police Department here TODAY to show off some of the work he does with drones and technology in law enforcement!

We are currently searching for restaurants and businesses interested in sponsoring our vex robotics tournament at DTSOI on November 5th. There are multiple levels of sponsorship, and all involved businesses will have their names and images displayed publicly around the tournament.

If any of our parents know of, or own a business that would be interested in this opportunity and donating food for our volunteers or money to help with tournament operation costs, please reach out to Jordan Toland at [email protected].

Both Vex Robotics Tournaments have officially been approved! We will officially host 2 tournaments this year at DTSOI! We will host on November 5th (26 days away) and January 14th. These will be ALL day on Saturdays.

I am currently accepting volunteers for our first DTSOI Vex Robotics Tournament on November 5th. ANYONE can help and anything is appreciated. We can teach anyone any required jobs and there are multiple jobs of varying difficulties when it comes to running a tournament.

PLEASE contact Jordan Toland at [email protected] OR Alex Chen at [email protected] for signing up to volunteer. We need EVERYONE! This is a fantastic opportunity for our school and for our kids! GET EXCITED!

Vex Robotics Competition Kids (Not regular classroom students) will be EXPECTED to help volunteer to run the tournaments unless prior commitments prevent this from happening. This is an excellent management learning opportunity for our students and another chance to display why our kids are the best!

The Vex Robotics Competition Kids had a blast at Elmdale Elementary yesterday! They got to show off the benefits of STEM Programs in schools and the benefits and job opportunities that automation and robotics can provide to a school full of elementary students.

We had a ton of interest and a great time.

ALL PLTW Gateway classes got to visit the Tyson Industrial Maintenance Lab for show and tell last week. Middle schoolers received the opportunity to learn about one of the many industry pathways they can choose from while they are here at DTSOI. Here are some pictures!
