Understanding electrical hazards is an important part of protecting employees and maintaining a safe workplace.

Join Mid-America OSHA Education Center for **OSHA 3095: Electrical Standards**, a four-day course focused on electrical-hazard recognition, OSHA requirements and practical corrective measures.

Participants will review topics such as grounding, GFCI protection, electrical equipment, safe-work practices, testing equipment and applicable OSHA and NEC requirements.

Electrical safety remains a serious workplace concern. In 2024, **130 U.S. workers died from exposure to electricity**, and electrical incidents caused **5,180 injuries involving days away from work during 2023–2024**.

In addition to the human impact, electrical incidents may result in OSHA citations, operational disruption, insurance claims and legal costs. Training can help organizations identify hazards earlier and improve compliance before an incident occurs.

Wrapping up Ladder Safety Month!

Week 4: Climb Safely, Work Safely

Hands full? You’re doing it wrong.

Wrapping up Ladder Safety Month with the most important rule: The 3-Point Contact. Two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand—no exceptions. If you need tools at the top, use a hoist or a tool belt. Never carry items in your hands while climbing.

Tip: Keep your belt buckle between the side rails to avoid overreaching.

Week 3 of Ladder Safety: Set It Up Safely

Stability is the foundation of safety.

A ladder is only as safe as its setup. Week 3 is about the 4-to-1 Rule: For every 4 feet of height, the base should be 1 foot out from the wall. Ensure you’re on level ground and the locks are fully engaged before your boots leave the floor.

Tip: Always clear the area around the base to prevent trips and falls.

Week 2: Check Before You Climb

A 60-second inspection can save a life.

Never assume a ladder is safe just because it was fine yesterday. This week, we’re focusing on pre-climb inspections. Look for cracked rungs, loose bolts, or slippery grease. If it’s broken, tag it out—don't "make it work."

Tip: Follow the OSHA inspection checklist every single time.
