Krahn Library - E-Resources for At Home Learning

Looking for library resources? Ms. Clanton has been updating her google page which you can find here:

[03/17/20]   We're all entering new, uncharted territory as far as education goes. Teachers are learning how to teach remotely and the district is working hard to provide parents with resources. Many of us are adjusting to working at home and learning how to teach our kids too. We're practicing social distancing and washing our hands a whole lot more. Uncertainty and anxiety abound.

Our question is, how can we help? Our mission is still to promote the welfare of our children in school, home, and community; to promote close communication, understanding, and cooperation among the students, parents, and faculty; and to enrich the education of our children.

What can your Krahn PTO do? Please leave some ideas in the comments, we're excited to hear what you have to say.

A message from Skye our reading dog!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this fundraiser a success!! If you haven't turned in your money already, please do so as soon as possible so we can close out this fundraiser and share final funds raised!

Just a reminder, today is money collection day!

Just a reminder for Monday, all chocolate sales money is due! Thank you to everyone who has helped make this fundraiser such a success!!!

Today is the last day for chocolate sales!! Please feel free to continue to sell off those last bars through the weekend. ALL money is due Monday morning. :)

We have about 80 boxes left to sell so we’re extending our chocolate sale until Friday! If you already turned in your last envelope but want to take on the challenge of one or two more boxes, send us a message with your student’s name and teacher! We’ll get the box to them. Let’s do this Krahn!!! Ps. You can buy a box outright for $60, they make great client/office/friend gifts!!

How did chocolate and valentines day become synonymous? You can thank Richard Cadbury, whose British family manufactured chocolate. He was searching for a way to use the pure cocoa butter that was extracted from the process Cadbury had invented to make a more palatable drinking chocolate. His solution was “eating chocolates,” which he packaged in lovely boxes he designed himself. A marketing genius, Cadbury began putting Cupids and rosebuds on heart-shaped boxes in 1861. Even when the chocolates had been eaten, people could use the beautiful boxes to save such mementos as love letters. Thus the long relationship between valentines day and chocolates was born. Leave a 🙋‍♀️ if you've sold a box of chocolate!

Hey Cardinals! We still have more chocolate to sell, who wants a box??

The world’s most valuable chocolate bar is a 100-year-old Cadbury’s bar, it sold for $687 at auction in 2001. It was taken on Captain Robert Scott’s first expedition to the Antarctic. Luckily our chocolates are only $2, how many did you sell this weekend?

The smell of chocolate increases theta brain waves, which triggers relaxation. It should be noted that smelling chocolate is exactly 0 calories! Chocolate sales end Feb 18!

Our Story

Every year, our PTO helps to oversee the needs and development of the school. We help raise funds to provide a wide range of educational enrichment programs to our students. The money we raise help to fund class trips, the Music and Art instruction to all grades, books, classroom supplies, and a lot more. During the past years, the PTO has provided learning opportunities that would have otherwise been unavailable to our children. As the new school year begins, we would once again ask for your support so that we can continue making resource and learning opportunities available to our children.

Just a few of the things we do for the school are:

Teacher Grants: Teachers can apply for grants from our PTO. This can be anything from new curriculum, new microwaves for the break rooms or bean bags for their classroom. We love being able to help teachers out with wish list items through the year.

Wednesday Folders and Planners: Each year your Krahn PTO purchases these for our students.

Teacher Luncheons: We love our teachers and we love to make sure they eat well. We host multiple teacher luncheons throughout the year.

Teacher Appreciation & Gifts: Our school would not be possible without our amazing staff and teachers. We do what we can to appreciate them throughout the year.

5th Grade Appreciation: The 5th grade trip, memory book and service project are all organizes and funded by your Krahn PTO.

Literacy Day: Last year we provided one book to every child. We hope to continue this tradition.

Holiday Shop: This is not a fundraiser but a service to our students. Each student gets excited about purchasing items for family and friends. We host the holiday shop in an effort to teach our kids about basic purchasing and kindness and giving.

Large Projects: We often take on larger projects. Currently we’re raising funds towards a new playground and outdoor classroom.

Volunteer Coordination: We help coordinate volunteers for all aspects of the school. Some areas include: room readers, room moms, classroom party hosts, Watch Dogs, library helpers, special event volunteers, fundraising volunteers and more.
