HS Prep Baseball Info!!!

Attention 7th and 8th grade baseball players!

While there are no baseball teams at York, there are a couple of opportunities for you to start playing with your classmates that will be your future teammates when you get to Grand Oaks. The first opportunity is a single weekend tournament through an organization called Middle School Matchup. The second opportunity is through a 7th/8th grade HS Prep League sponsored by The Farm League. Details and contact information for both are below and we look forward to meeting all the York baseball players on the field over the next couple of years. (*neither of these team set ups are in any way associated with the Grand Oaks baseball program. The name is just used in signifying the feeder zone required to play on the teams)

Middle School Matchup (https://middleschoolmatchup.com/houston-baseball/):
Who: 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Teams are formed by grade level, by school.
What: Weekend tournament format
When: December 4th and 5th
Where: TBD (but likely somewhere in the area like Scrapyard)
How much: $100 - $186 depending on which gear package you choose. Fee paid on the MSM site upon registration.

The Farm League High School Prep (http://www.thefarmleaguepark.com/baseball-prep-league):
Who: 7th and 8th graders
What: 10 game league play format with weekly games beginning Feb 4th
When: Tryouts will be held at Grand Oaks High School on either Saturday Dec 11th or Sunday December 12th. There will only be one try-out day selected on one of these days. Final date/time to be announced later.
League play will begin starting Feb 4-6 (only weekend that games are played). Remaining games are on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday nights, usually 1 game per week with a possible occasional double header. Games could be at 6:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.
Where: The Farm League Park and possibly area high school fields leased by TFL
How much: Approximately $200 per player (includes league fees, jersey, and hat). Hat and jersey size information collected in registration form so that we already have it when teams are decided. Orders will only be placed for students/families making a team. Final fee amount will be determined based on number of teams created, total number of players kept, and final jersey/hat order. Payment will be requested via Venmo after teams are announced.

Additional Information: This is a fun league offering an opportunity for you to start playing with your future HS teammates. There is no end of season tournament or trophies to be won, just friendships and comradery to be made! We have a great group of volunteers that make these teams possible for our kids. Please be sure to show them respect and gratitude!
The number of teams that we have will depend on the number of players that try out and the number of coaches available, with a max of 2 teams per grade level. Last year we fielded two 8th grade teams and two 7th grade teams.
Coach Martin had been working on the jersey style for this year already and will look something like this…

Player name will be replaced with 20 26 for 8th graders or 20 27 for 7th graders
