Roaring into the wild world of the animal kingdom has never been so paw-sitively entertaining! This cute hand print activity is a crafty adventure and a roar-some way to introduce your little ones to the wonders of wildlife. As a small hand transforms into a majestic mane, your child will go on a sensory journey and connect with the animal kingdom in an active way. This hands-on approach sparks creativity, nurtures fine motor skills, and is perfect for practicing hand-eye coordination, all essential for early writing development. Working on this craft together is a wonderful way to encourage storytelling about lions and their habitats, fostering language skills and expanding your child's vocabulary. So, let those little paws leave their mark on the savanna, where the wild meets the whimsical and literacy skills growl to life!

Materials:
– Orange and yellow cardstock

3. Cut strips of yellow and orange and glue them to the back of the head around the edge to form the lion's mane.
4. Use a black marker to draw a mouth, nose, and whiskers.
5. Attach the lion's head over the thumb of the hand print card.
6. Glue three strips of card stock to the back of the lion's body to make the tail.

Investigate the different ways the moon looks from Earth as the days go by with this Oreo Moon Phases activity! Each cookie represents a different phase of the moon. Your child can use a plastic knife or spoon to carve their way through the changing lunar cycle, from the full moon to crescents and quarters. As they enjoy this tasty exploration, they also grasp the concept of the moon's phases in a hands-on and memorable way. It's a delicious blend of astronomy and creativity that leaves young astronomers with a sweet understanding of the moon's amazing transformations. Be sure to watch the night sky for the real-life examples. You can even use simple but scientific vocabulary and explanations for an older child to label the moon phases.

Materials:
Oreos
Paper plate
Marker
Knife or fork

Directions:
1. Carefully twist eight Oreos apart so the cream separates from one side of the cookie.
2. Using a knife or fork, draw a line in the cream and scrape off some from each cookie to represent each moon phase.
3. Use a marker or pen to write the name of each Moon phase on the plate in a circle.
5. Draw the Earth in the center of the plate to show how the moon orbits the Earth.
4. Place all Oreos on the plate in a circle in the order of the moon phases.

Blast off on a cosmic adventure and engage your little astronomer in a thrilling solar eclipse mask activity! With solar eclipse glasses and a paper plate, children craft their own protective masks. By cutting a small viewing window in the plate and attaching solar eclipse glasses, it creates a safe way to observe the celestial event. This hands-on experience not only sparks creativity but also fosters an early interest in astronomy as children witness the wonder of a solar eclipse safely and playfully. It lays the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning and exploration. To explain a solar eclipse, ask your child to imagine a special dance in the sky between the Moon and the Sun. Sometimes, the Moon goes between the Earth and the Sun, making a shadow on our planet and blocking the Sun from our view for a short time. It’s like a fantastic show where everything in our universe moves in a magical way!

Materials:
Paper plates
Scissors
Rubber band
Stapler
Silver paint
Paint brush
Solar eclipse glasses

Directions:
1. Paint the paper plate silver to give it an astronaut look!
2. Using scissors, cut lines on each side for the mask's edges to fit the glasses into.
3. Cut out a triangle in the center for the nose and holes for the eyes.
4. Slide the solar eclipse glasses through the holes on the sides of the mask.
5. For added stability, attach one end of the rubber band to each side of the mask using a stapler.

Engage your little ones in a cheerful activity that goes beyond delicious treats – creating fruit and chocolate ladybugs as a sweet gesture to show they care. Let your child remove the strawberry tops into a V-shape, and then gently halve the berries lengthwise to use as the body. Melt chocolate and pour into a zip lock bag, then let your child craft adorable ladybugs by making a line of chocolate down the middle and some dots on each side. Add a blueberry head and presto! A ladybug appears! Each ladybug becomes a heartfelt token of care that can be shared with friends!

Ingredients:
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Chocolate chips
- Candy decorating bag

Directions:
1. Cut the strawberries in half and cut the tops into a V shape.
2. Melt the chocolate according to the directions on the candy decorating bag package. Once melted, make a small cut at the point of the bag.
3. Attach a blueberry to create the head, using the chocolate as glue.
4. Use the the chocolate to decorate the ladybug with dots, a line down the back, legs, and antenna.
5. Wait for the chocolate to harden, and your strawberry ladybugs are ready to crawl onto the plate!

All aboard! It’s topple-time! Immerse your child in an exciting cause-and-effect adventure using a wooden train track set and dominoes. Little engineers will carefully arrange dominoes along the tracks to create a fascinating chain reaction, all while using concentration and attention to detail—essential skills for future academic success. As the train sets the dominoes in motion, a marvelous show of cause-and-effect unfolds. The rhythmic clatter and tumble of each domino engages the senses and delivers a vivid lesson about the connections between actions and outcomes. This vibrant activity sparks creativity, refines fine motor skills, and introduces young minds to the intriguing world of cause and effect in a playful, hands-on way. Also, the experience instills patience and resilience; when the domino chain encounters obstacles, your child learns to troubleshoot, adjust, and persevere—an invaluable lesson for life’s journey. Brace yourself for laughter, excitement, and dynamic learning in action!

Materials:
- Toy train tracks
- Dominoes
- Toy train car

Directions:
1. Set up the train tracks, linking each piece onto the next into your desired shape.
2. Place the dominoes upright along the wooden train tracks. 3. Place each piece behind the next, so they are in line with each other.
4. Place the train car at the back of the tracks. Show your child how to push the train car forward and watch the dominoes fall!
5. Discuss the cause and effect reaction of the train car bumping into the dominoes and the dominoes falling down.

What makes Kids R Kids special and different from other preschool programs? We use a variety of tools to engage our students in learning. Interactive learning is a wonderful concept and one that we apply here at Kids R Kids 'R' Kids Learning Academy of Spring Central.

“Since the jobs that our preschoolers will do probably don’t exist yet, our priority is to teach them the skills to adapt and inquire and question and cooperate…life skills. So much more useful than rigid concepts such as the alphabet.” – Caroline Bellouse
