Good afternoon MAT Center family,

We hope everyone is surviving the aftermath of this storm as best as you can. Times like this can be a true testament to the strength of our relationships as we must lean on one another in tough times.

As I am sure many of you are dealing with storm cleanup and power outages, so is our school. It is currenly 98 degrees (and not the music band) inside our electric-less dojo. This situation is even too much for hot yoga. 🙂 I won't say our dojo is powerless, because even in the absense of electricity, there is power! As a result, tonight's classes will be cancelled and we will need to make considerations for Thursday and beyond as those get closer and the situation is reassessed.

Our program is comprehensive in design yet simple to learn. We offer this proprietary training to individuals, groups, organizations, institutions, and companies. For the longest time we have offered this training privately. We are about to go public.

I just really want our youth to make it.

It was a great remembrance class last night. Shooting off fireworks happens after dark and we finish at 8p so plenty of time for folks to go watch. Thank you to Scott, Paul, Mintcho and Izzy for helping to set up the new equipment for our Rock-Solid Kids Program and a special thanks to Scott for providing.

What a great day that was. The National Instructors Seminar at the new Ryoshinkan Dojo. Sensei brought me outside to show me something about the construction. There seemed to be a Red and Blue stripe on the cinder blocks that wrapped around the building. He laughed and said that he copied me. I had a red and blue paint stripe that wrapped around the inside of my Dojo and he liked it. It was a packed seminar and Sensei made sure to talk to as many of his students as he could. I am sure everyone came away with a lot of great memories from that weekend.

We lost you today. Our Teacher. I want to salute everyone who had the opportunity to be his student. No one is more special than the next. We all received the transmission. In a phone call right after he visited my Dojo for the last time he said this:

"Michael, if you do YOUR Aikido, I will be rich." I know, I know that all he wanted was for everyone to do their individual Aikido and have an Aikido Life like no other. Some of you remember what he said. "You don't move like me, You don't look like me, You don't have gout. Keep his Aikido alive by making your aikido alive. That is all...

Tomorrow is the memorial class for my late Teacher. The late great Aikido Shihan and Zen Master, Fumio Toyoda. I did not know as I am sure everyone did not know that on "Independence Day" that we would become independent of our Teacher. I love my country, I served but every July 4th I think of my Teacher and then 1776.

Back in 1999 I went with my Teacher to Japan. We were all tired from the airplane ride. Sensei, once we got to Chiba to visit Saotome, Shigeo Sensei he immediately made this meal for us. Sensei did not seem to suffer time and space like the rest of us. I got the worst chewing out of my life from him and ironically another student Mark P. came over and said "Welcome to the club." After that it was HEAVEN. Only ten years with you.

I have been offering Protection Courses for individuals, Companies, Organizations and Institutions for well over 30 years.
