A safe place to explore ideas - that is what Elisabeth found this year in PACES. She could question her beliefs, engage in important, intelligent conversations with her peers. Watch her presentation here.
Waddle Rhonda Yost asked her students to reflect upon what they learned over the past year and make a speech or presentation of their thoughts.
When I, with little kids, first toured the PACES campus, I heard the eloquent, intelligent, thoughtful rhetoric level students and I thought to myself, "I want one of those when I am finished with this journey." Well, here is my oldest son, to inspire and encourage those of you with littles; it is worth all the blood, sweat and tears. Keep going moms. We'll see you next year!

Friends matter. This bright young woman reflects upon previous values and how a year discussing important ideas with friends at PACES changed those values. Here is Rachel's presentation from class today.

Parent and Child Educational Services exists to help parents prepare their children to be tomorrow's outstanding national leaders. PACES Paideia Classical School is owned and operated by the Family Education Foundation, a 501c(3) Non-Profit Organization.

PACES is a university model style, fully Integrated Classical Education Program for Pre-K through 12th grade for homeschooling families. We meet two days per week and serve the greater Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Magnolia, Houston area. We offer online classes, classical education study guides, and elective options also.

PAideia Classical School encompasses much more than academic acquisition. In partnership with you, PACES PAideia Classical School attends to the whole child by nourishing and supporting each child’s spiritual, social, emotional, and academic needs through our:

Academic Program
Leadership Development
Spiritual Education
Culture Changing Training
Community Fellowship

Daily at home, twice per week at a campus location, and once per week in a study group PACES students are encouraged to continually challenge themselves to learn and apply truths to their own lives, then to challenge other students and their educators to apply their knowledge for cultural improvement. Students anticipate difficult discussions concerning philosophies of history, science, politics, and theology. Socratic discussions, bantering ideas between parents, students, educators, and siblings become common table conversations and daily activities. Improving culture occurs when students apply their deepening worldview ideas to their community services projects, vocational choices, and leisure activities. All classical programs focus on a systematic procedure for teaching facts, logic and rhetoric; PACES PAideia Classical School intentionally adds the weight of committed, informed parents as the primary, deliberate influencers on young scholars. We provide structure and content in curriculum, along with support and direction for you, the parents. The family re- mains the dynamic, life-giving, perspective-creating, element that sparks enthusiasm and breathes vigor into subjects. No program or staff can equal the family in effectual influence of children; PACES PAideia Classical School therefore purposefully weaves the family’s interaction into each objective and goal. It is my pleasure as Program Director to welcome your family and serve you in Christ. We are here to support your entire family in this journey. Bethany Parrish

Sock Hop in the Fall brings all families together for what many believe is the best night of the school year. Poodle skirts and jeans, dancing, talent show, carnival food and games, and impressive grand prizes bring huge crowds year after year. This evening includes a spirited auction with items such as rounds of golf, spa get-aways, purses and a hunting experience. Sock Hop is also one of the PCS fundraisers to fund campus projects.

“No one likes to be condescended to, so it’s hardly surprising that so many high school students develop a loathing for the modernist novels they’re forced to read in senior English and go to the movies instead. (Movies have plots, after all.) They’re being good postmodernists.”

― Susan Wise Bauer, The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had

Our students cultivate a love for quality, intellectually stimulating works because they are not just exposed to--but deep dive into the great works. They wrestle with the great ideas, discuss and dissect them with engaged peers and a wise teacher to guide the discourse. No condescension here.

[05/31/21]   What is “Culturative History?”
Culturative History (CH) combines history, literature, art architecture, music, geography, political science, religion, speech, and philosophy in a four year study of western civilization.

English and Culturative History are integrally and vitally connected at Paideia. A basic educational principle is that students master a topic as they synthesize the subject into their own consciousness and restate the material as their own. Both classes follow the same era each year; when history classes are studying Queen Elizabeth, English classes will be discussing The Faerie Queen.

Culturative History provides the input, and English trains the output as students fuse what they have absorbed into innovative, articulate presentations.

Spiritual Emphasis: Campus day includes prayer in classes and a weekly Chapel experience. Common activities include scripture reading, prayer, singing, devotionals, scripture memory and responses. Some of these activities are student-led, allowing leadership abilities to emerge.

Parental guidance plays an essential role in the spiritual maturation of children. PCS partners with parents in the spiritual development of a child but the parent is the key discipleship mentor. Parents are always promoted as the primary spiritual advisor and guide in a child's spiritual development.

Weekly spiritual lessons including instructions in character and etiquette. Students are encouraged to demonstrate godly behavior through acts of kindness and servanthood. Spiritual objectives round out the weekly focus for parents, teachers, and students.

Paideia Classical School assists parents in this individual training of the heart. This training leads to students seeking to honor God through their studies, culture-changing activities and leadership development.

[05/29/21]   Leadership development is incremental through daily instruction, personal coaching and in the refining fire of defending beliefs. Leadership development begins in our early childhood class and is modeled by upper level students, teachers and mentors who likewise have accepted the call to be a culture changer in their circles of influence.

[05/28/21]   What Distinguishes Paideia?
Historically, classical education boasts more success in producing logical thinkers and productive leaders than in any other teaching method developed in Western civilization. From Socrates’ questions with students on a Greek hillside, to the great thinkers of the Renaissance, to the great universities established in the Great Awakening, the sequence of the trivium has delivered influential thinkers that positively shape history and culture on a world-wide scale.

An assortment of options to teach classically are readily available to contemporary educators; the distinction of the Paideia School is the emphasis on and commitment to parent-directed training within the parameters of the traditional trivium and quadrivium.

All classical programs focus on a systematic procedure for teaching facts, logic and rhetoric; Paideia School intentionally adds the weight of committed, informed parents as the primary, deliberate in uencers on young scholars.

In this organization, the program exists to provide structure and content in curriculum, along with support and direction for parents; the family remains the dynamic, life-giving, perspective-creating, element that sparks enthusiasm and breathes vigor into subjects. No program or staff can equal the family in effectual influence of children; Paideia therefore purposefully weaves the family’s interaction into each objective and goal.

[05/27/21]   We provide structure and content through a completely integrated curriculum, along with support and direction for you, the parents. The family remains the dynamic, life-giving, perspective-creating element that sparks enthusiasm and breathes vigor into subjects.
