First and foremost, thank you to every one of you for your support!

Thank you greatly to Mrs. Gorman for all of her unconditional support during my journey as the PTO President. Thank you also to the teachers and staff who always went above and beyond to help our PTO thrive — you know who you are!

These past three years have been full of learning, growth, amazing experiences and most importantly I was able to fulfill my mission.

As a parent, I highly believe that it is important to be involved in the activities of our children. Volunteering at Ford Elementary has meant a lot to me. I was able to participate and help create memories for our students and staff. I have gained many great friendships that have developed and flourished from my involvement.

This year, for the first time, I along with the other board members were able to host a massive event for our community. While the hustle was real — the result was outstanding! I truly hope the family dances become a tradition!

From the Astros’s Orbit, to the assemblies of the reptiles, Trunk or Treats, Holiday Bazaar, as well as the BMX bike riders and many other adventures — seeing the happy faces of our students makes me proud to know that I participated and worked hard to make these events possible.

It is definitely not easy — juggling work, motherhood, school, softball and PTO — but the satisfaction of knowing that you are leading an amazing group of parents to help make a difference, is indescribable.

There’s been many times were parents have criticized and ridiculed my volunteer work, but I will always stand by my mission. Everything I did was with the intention to make the school a better environment for our students — my children & your children.

I was super nervous when I was nominated to be President — I had no idea what paperwork needed to be filed, what tax exempt meant, or how to even set up a Spirit Night. But little by little, you learn.

My advice to those joining the PTO Board after me is to always stay positive and to remember that everything we do is for the benefit of the students.

It has been a true pleasure serving the Ford Elementary community these past three years. Thank you for this grand opportunity and I look forward to the new beginning of an amazing PTO Board.

En primer lugar, ¡gracias a todos por su apoyo!

Muchas gracias a la Sra. Gorman por todo su apoyo incondicional durante mi jornada como Presidenta del comité de padres (PTO). Gracias también a los maestros y al personal que siempre hicieron todo lo posible para ayudar a nuestro PTO a prosperar. ¡Ustedes saben quiénes son!

Estos últimos tres años han estado llenos de aprendizaje, crecimiento, experiencias increíbles y, lo más importante, pude cumplir con mi misión.

Como madre de familia, creo firmemente que es importante participar en las actividades de nuestros hijos. Ser voluntaria en Ford Elementary ha significado mucho para mí. Pude participar y ayudar a crear recuerdos para nuestros estudiantes y personal. He ganado muchas amistades excelentes que se han desarrollado y florecido gracias a mi participación.

Este año, por primera vez, junto con los otros miembros del comité de padres pudimos organizar un evento masivo para nuestra comunidad. Si que el ajetreo fue real, pero ¡el resultado fue sobresaliente! ¡Realmente espero que los bailes familiares se conviertan en una tradición!

Desde el Astros Orbit, las asambleas de reptiles, Trunk or Treats, Bazaar Festivo, hasta los ciclistas de BMX y muchas otras aventuras, ver las caras felices de nuestros estudiantes me enorgullece saber que participé y trabajé duro para hacer posibles estos eventos.

Definitivamente no es fácil — hacer malabarismos con el trabajo, la maternidad, la escuela, el softbol y el PTO — pero la satisfacción de saber que lídere un grupo increíble de padres para ayudar a marcar la diferencia, es indescriptible.

Ha habido muchas ocasiones en las que los padres han criticado y ridiculizado mi trabajo voluntario, pero siempre mantendré firme mi misión. Todo lo que hice fue con la intención de hacer de la escuela un mejor ambiente para nuestros estudiantes, mis hijos y los suyos.

Estaba muy nerviosa cuando me nominaron para ser presidenta, no tenía idea de qué papeleo debía presentarse, qué significaba estar exento de impuestos o incluso cómo organizar una Noche de Espíritu Escolar. Pero poco a poco aprendes.

Mi consejo para quienes se unan al comité de padres (PTO) después de mí es que siempre se mantengan positivos y recuerden que todo lo que hacemos es para el beneficio de los estudiantes.

Ha sido un verdadero placer servir a la comunidad de Ford Elementary estos últimos tres años. Gracias por esta gran oportunidad y espero con ansias el comienzo de el nuevo e increíble comité de padres (PTO).

Our 3rd & 4th grade students have been working very hard to prepare for the STAAR test.

We purchased gold foil stars for all of our 3rd & 4th grade students and labeled each star with the students’ names. Then we asked our teachers to please allow the students to write positive thoughts and words of encouragement to their classmates — to help alleviate the stress for today’s & tomorrow’s tests, but overall to spread kindness.

The turn out was great!

These kids are amazing! They are our shining STARS!

Nuestros estudiantes de 3er y 4to grado han estado trabajando muy duro para prepararse para la prueba STAAR.

Compramos estrellas de lámina de oro para todos nuestros estudiantes de tercer y cuarto grado y etiquetamos cada estrella con los nombres de los estudiantes. Luego les pedimos a nuestros maestros que permitieran a los estudiantes escribir pensamientos positivos y palabras de aliento a sus compañeros de clase, para ayudar a aliviar el estrés de los exámenes de hoy y mañana, pero en general para difundir amabilidad.

¡La participación fue genial!
