Remember that children spell love as t-i-m-e and teaches them that generosity does not always have to be about money. Spend valuable time together designing these cute cardboard tube houses. Your child can easily create this and develop fine motor skills at the same time. Then you can have fun together playing with a busy town that is full of people who love helping each other! #kidsrkids

Materials:
– Cardboard tube(s)
– Paint
– Glue
– Cupcake paper liners
– Scissors
– Sharpie marker
– Paintbrush

Directions:
– Cut door into bottom of tube
– Paint tube color of your choice and let dry
– Draw windows on tube with marker
– Glue cupcake paper liner on top of tube for the roof
– Create a community of houses

The joy of cooking with young children has multiple rewards. On one hand, it creates valuable time together, and on the other hand, it teaches self-reliance and creativity. It is also the perfect time for practicing language skills and building vocabulary, so why not focus on the language of being polite? While using this delicious fruit yogurt bark activity to measure, mix, and observe cause and effect, help your child also experience the impact of polite manners. #kidsrkidsLiteracy

Connection: Time to Say Please by Mo Willems reinforces the basics of polite conversation with please, thank you, excuse me, and more. It is a joyfully illustrated story about using respectful manners in real-world situations that children can relate to. The story and illustrations instill good sense and use fun for important social skills…because everyone loves nice manners!

Materials:
– Bowl
– Spoon
– Baking Pan
– Lined Baking Sheet (wax paper or parchment paper)
– Frosting spatula or butter knife
Ingredients:
– 32 oz. of Plain Greek Yogurt
– Honey (optional)
– Vanilla Extract (optional)
– Fruit topping (whatever is seasonal) strawberries, peaches, etc.

Directions:
– Pour all yogurt into bowl.
– Add 2 tablespoons of honey.
– Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.
– Mix all ingredients well.
– Pour ingredients evenly onto baking pan & wax paper.
– Spread evenly across the pan.
– Top with your favorite fruit.
– Freeze for up to 2 hours.
– Cut into squares.
– Put extra squares into plastic zip bag and store in freezer.

This is a DIY craft that will transport an ordinary day into an afternoon of fun and adventure! And there are plenty of ways to help develop your child’s finger and hand strength with cutting, stretching, drawing, and more. Then set sail on an adventure of the imagination that your child will surely want to share with a friend. #kidsrkids

Literacy Connection: Continue the theme of nice manners by highlighting the beauty of sharing with Llama Llama Time to Share by Anna Dewdney. The lesson of struggling to share a beloved item is simple when the theme rhymes with share, and that is… learning to care! Sometimes learning that sharing when you are ready can be the most fun.

Materials:
– 3 wine corks
– 2 thick rubber bands
– Toothpicks
– Craft foam sheet
– Scissors
– Hot glue (optional)

Directions:
– Rubber band together 3 corks turned sideways. (use hot glue to reinforce)
– Cut craft foam sheet into a triangle for the sail. Decorate as you desire.
– Use toothpick and poke a hole at the top and through the bottom of the sail.
– Stick toothpick into the middle cork.
– See how well your cork-boat floats.
