The Thinking and Learning Center is opening 3 spaces for students starting in January and February! These spots fill up quickly, so if you are interested contact us for details on setting up a free consultation.
The Thinking and Learning Center provides an educational therapy program that teaches students how to learn, not just what to learn! We use cognitive therapy and an individualized plan for each student using techniques from NILD and Equipping Minds. We work with students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and executive function struggles, as well as other issues.

Today one of my students was the teacher. She was prepared with lesson plans typed out and all activities ready. She gave me a run for my money. Man... I had to repeat over half of a Dr Seuss book and write it correctly (from memory). I did Morse code with a broken buzzer for a 9 or 10 letter word. (If you don’t know all that implies... that’s ok- just clap for both of us) My puzzle was a real mind bender and of course I didn’t let her give me any tips. I had a headache when I was done. But you guys... for her to give me an activity to write that was over half of a book - she had to fluently read that book. For me to do a 10 letter word, she first had to spell and know the meaning and part of speech of that word. Oh you guys.... this was a celebration.
I’m probably not taking additional students next year so I can give my time to foster kids... (but I have other therapists who are!!!) If you do hear me, personally, opening a spot... share it with everyone. Here’s the deal... my secret is that this work I do is not me. It’s my trust in God. It’s His miracle. If I could only tell you the stories... the success... oh wow. Today was huge for me. Just know - This was big. This kid has come a loooong way. I’m so proud. I can’t wait to see what next year will bring. This year has brought such huge victory! In the midst of extreme turbulence. I’ve even been exploring becoming a nonprofit so I can help more kids who can’t afford my therapy. But that sounds like so much work... and I’m already willing to give my time. Those of you with non-profits.... advice is welcome. Everyone else - celebrate with me! This student rocked!!! Tell her good job and I will pass on every message!

Today's Tip - Take a walk or stand in the sun for 30 minutes and think thankful thoughts.
That's of foremost importance right now in the midst of this world crisis. In this time of home-bound education, It's not just about education or safety, the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs are just or more important than the academic. Vitamin D and a dose of thankfulness will do wonders. Get outside and discuss the things you are thankful for. The Thinking and Learning values a holistic approach to working with children.
