The Spindle Box helps to develop the association of quantity and the number symbols 0-9. More importantly it teaches the concept of zero. The wooden box has ten numbered compartments into which the child counts the corresponding number of tactile wooden spindles.

The number rods help children to learn the names of numbers and their sequence. Also to correctly associate between the spoken number and its quantity.

Welcome back to our spring semester! We got to see old faces and meet some new friends! We can not wait to see what this semester has instore for our children.

Color by number: This activity is used for the children to follow a visual instruction, learning sight words, order, concentration, following steps to complete the final picture. We will start with simple just a couple colors then move on to harder with more numbers or even adding or subtracting to get an answer and color the numbers with the corresponding colors.

Today we celebrated St. Lucia Day. This day is to celebrate St. Lucia who would bring food to people that were persecuted for their beliefs and had to hide in the catacombs, so she would wear a crown of candles to light her way while delivering food to these people.

When a child is doing spooning work they are working on crossing the midline of the brain (using both halves), working on order (going from left to right), and concentration (taking their time moving objects with a spoon from one container to the next with out spilling).

We are so blessed to have such amazing families!

Thankful. We have talked a lot about what we are thankful for this past few weeks, CMS is very thankful for the amazing families that we have at this school and the amazing staff we could not do it without all of you. Today the kids were asked to name on thing that they were thankful for and here is what they said...

Book Fair Fun!! Making our wish lists! The book fair is here until December 2 come check it out.

Today was our annual Thanksgiving Day feast thank you so much Mrs. Ryann and Mr. Nick. We are so thankful for our wonderful families and staff. We are so lucky to have such an amazing family here at CMS!

Table setting is something that we talk a lot about in the Montessori classroom. It is a way to promote grace and courtesy, instills confidence, allows the child to feel useful in a way at home, and promotes togetherness.
