In preparation for the 2026-27 school year, more than 80 East Ramapo administrators, principals, assistant principals, coordinators and staff members came together for the district’s annual Leadership Institute, an event designed to give the district team an opportunity to reflect, collaborate and prepare for the year ahead.

Superintendent Dr. Torres-Rodriguez and district administrators shared personal leadership stories, helping set the tone for the three-day workshop focused on connection, collaboration and a shared commitment to student success.

District leaders reviewed priorities and progress from 2025-26, identified focus areas for the coming school year and outlined key priorities for the district’s 2026-29 strategic plan. They also worked to develop a shared vision for instructional leadership, strengthen teams and systems and identify ways to lead for greater impact.

Taking a close look at the many factors that shape teaching and learning, including data and student outcomes, school and district staff reflected on what is working, discussed areas for growth and explored innovative approaches to strengthen instruction.

The time together was about more than presentations and planning. Working in small groups and participating in team-building activities gave the team opportunities to strengthen connections, build camaraderie and enjoy some lighter moments together. The balance of meaningful conversation and fun helped strengthen relationships while keeping everyone focused on one important goal: ensuring every student is positioned for success.

With students set to return to classrooms Thursday, September 3, East Ramapo’s leaders are prepared to turn these conversations and plans into action. Bring on the 2026-27 school year!

Not all of the capital improvements across this summer were about beautifying our buildings. There were also important upgrades behind the scenes - improvements designed to strengthen the infrastructure that supports teaching, learning and day-to-day operations.

The Information Technology Department has been hard at work rewiring every IT closet across the district to improve efficiency and reliability, as well as installing 75 new copiers in our school buildings and administrative offices.

Our tech experts have also been busy preparing new Chromebooks for all incoming ninth-grade students, who will receive their devices when they arrive at school, complete with a 25-watt charger and carrying case.

Upgrading the infrastructure behind our technology is essential to ensuring that our students and staff have the reliable tools and systems needed for a successful school year and an optimal learning environment.

Meet Eldorado’s Principal: Amy Salazar-Molina

Amy Salazar-Molina is honored to serve as the new principal of Eldorado Elementary School. She brings more than 20 years of experience as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, assistant principal and elementary school principal.

Ms. Salazar-Molina earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Pre-K-6) with a concentration in Mathematics from Concordia College and holds two master’s degrees from the College of New Rochelle in Educational Leadership and Literacy Education.

As an experienced educator and mother, Ms. Salazar-Molina is committed to creating a school where every child feels known, valued, supported and challenged. Her leadership is grounded in high-quality, data-informed instruction, effective intervention systems and a strong sense of belonging for all learners.

She believes strong schools are built on trust, collaboration and meaningful partnerships with families. She looks forward to listening to students, families and staff, learning from the Eldorado community and building on the school’s traditions and strengths.

Her vision for the Eldorado Jaguars is a safe, caring, joyful and academically rigorous school community where every child is empowered to learn, grow and succeed.

East Ramapo recently welcomed dozens of new faces to the district as new educators gathered for an energetic and exciting introduction to their new professional home. To experience the full scope of the district they now call home, they all hopped aboard school buses for a grand tour of all 14 school buildings, getting a firsthand look at the size and reach of the East Ramapo community. The tour culminated at Ramapo High School, where the exceptional “world famous” East Ramapo Marching Band showcased the talent, energy and spirit that make it such a distinctive part of the district. Their unforgettable performance provided a spirited welcome and set the tone for the journey ahead.

A new chapter at Summit Park Elementary!

After three and a half years as Assistant Principal at Summit Park, Raisha Morales is stepping into the role of Interim Principal, bringing her experience, leadership and deep connection to the school community with her.

Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Morales served as a special education teacher and coordinator with the New York City Department of Education. She is also a proud alumna of the University of Mount Saint Vincent and Lehman College.
As she takes on this new role, Ms. Morales is looking forward to building on the strong foundation at Summit Park, celebrating the accomplishments of students and staff and continuing to move the school community toward excellence.

While students and staff have been enjoying summer break, our custodial, maintenance, and grounds teams have been hard at work preparing our schools for the first day of school!

The custodial staff has been cleaning, scrubbing and painting, while the maintenance team has been completing repairs, supporting capital projects, conducting routine maintenance, and helping prepare safe, welcoming spaces throughout the district.

Meanwhile, the grounds team has been beautifying school entrances, maintaining lawns, preparing athletic fields for the season and assisting with moves across the district.

Thanks to their hard work, our schools and grounds are looking their best and ready to welcome staff and students back on Thursday, September 3! 🎉📚

Same school, exciting new role! 🎉

Sheron Samaroo is the new Assistant Principal at Fleetwood Elementary!

Ms. Samaroo joined East Ramapo in January as the STEM Coordinator at Fleetwood, where she quickly became a valued part of the school community. Now, she is stepping into a new leadership role with a strong commitment to collaboration, instructional leadership and student success.

With 14 years of experience in education in the Bronx, Ms. Samaroo brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to her work. She believes in using data, collaboration and reflection to identify student needs, support teachers and ensure every student has access to meaningful and rigorous learning experiences.

We are excited to see Ms. Samaroo continue her work at Fleetwood in this new role and look forward to the impact she will make on students, staff and the entire school community. Congratulations, Ms. Samaroo! 👏

🔥 A little heat work now means a lot more comfort later!

While our students are enjoying summer, East Ramapo’s Facilities team is making sure our schools are ready for the colder months ahead. This summer, the aging boilers at Eldorado Elementary and Lime Kiln Elementary are being replaced with new, energy-efficient systems that will help reduce energy use while heating the schools more efficiently. 🛠️🏫

🧹🧽🪣🔧This week, our school custodians gathered at Spring Valley High School for professional training with Pacific & LJC, sharpening their knowledge of the cleaning products, equipment and machinery they rely on every day to keep our schools clean, safe and well maintained.

With more than 100 custodians across the district, this dedicated team works behind the scenes year-round to ensure our schools are ready for students and staff each day. Throughout the summer, our custodial teams are hard at work preparing classrooms, common areas and facilities for the year ahead. Their efforts help create the welcoming environments our students and staff return to when school begins Sept. 3.🏫

🎉 Welcome to East Ramapo, Jason Pickford!

The East Ramapo Central School District is pleased to welcome Jason Pickford as our new Director of Facilities!

Mr. Pickford joins East Ramapo after serving as Director of Facilities for the Florida Union Free School District, where during his 19 months in the role, he focused on strengthening compliance checks and inspections and overseeing important capital projects and facility improvements.

Prior to Florida, Mr. Pickford spent 11 years with the Clarkstown Central School District, where he worked his way up to become Head Custodian at Clarkstown High School North. His extensive background also includes 10 years in the construction industry, with experience in hardscape masonry, plumbing and electrical work.

As a proud district alumnus and local resident, Mr. Pickford is excited to return to the community and begin this new chapter with East Ramapo.
