Hola! Welcome our incoming Spanish teacher- Mrs. Carriquiry.

Margarita Abin Carriquiry is an Uruguayan actress, singer, and art therapist born in Montevideo. She has over 14 years of teaching experience across Uruguay and Italy. She speaks six languages and loves to travel. She holds a Master's degree in Human Science and has dedicated over ten years to researching theatre for social change as a mental health resource in Uruguay. Currently, she performs her own show at various venues throughout Michigan and occasionally collaborates on set painting for the Muskegon Civic Theatre. Having lived in Michigan for the past two years, she is very enthusiastic about joining the team as a Spanish teacher at Saint Mary's School.

Congratulations to former St. Mary’s School Student Council President Landon Wiedenhoeft. Landon was named the President of Alpha Lambda Delta at WMU. This follows up his year term as Vice President.

Please join me in extending a warm St. Mary's welcome to Thomas Curry, who will be joining our faculty as our new Middle School Social Studies, 8th Grade Theology, and 8th Grade Homeroom Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.

As an alumnus of West Catholic High School and a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he earned degrees in Philosophy and Catholic Studies, Thomas Curry is excited to join the St. Mary's School family as our new middle school Social Studies and 8th Grade Theology teacher. He has completed graduate coursework toward a Master of Divinity and has been accepted into the Master of Theological Studies program at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, where he will continue his theological studies while serving our school community.

Thomas has experience teaching theology in Catholic schools, most recently serving as the long-term theology teacher at Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids. He is passionate about helping students grow both academically and spiritually and is especially excited to lead our 8th graders in their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Outside the classroom, Thomas enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on Notre Dame athletics, following football and baseball, reading, playing chess, and being out on the water whenever Michigan weather allows. This August, he will marry his wonderful fiancée in Grand Rapids, and together they look forward to becoming part of the vibrant St. Mary's parish and school community.
