Spring Lake Junior Sailing Association

Next week, Spring Lake Yacht Club will host the Western Michigan Yachting Association Championship!!

Many of our race team members and instructors will be competing. The event will feature 7 different fleets. In addition to racing, there will be social events for all ages! You do not have to be a SLYC member to register.

Some days, weather prevents us from being out on the water, but that doesn’t stop the fun!!! One of our favorite ways to pass time on land is making burgees. 🚩🎨

Burgees are flags that represent a yacht club or sailing organization. At the SLJSA, our students design burgees that represent them. When they’re finished drawing, they share their burgee with the class, and we hang them up for everyone to see.

Drawing burgees is the perfect way to use creativity, get to know each other, and learn about an important aspect of the sailing community! ⛵️⚓️

⛵️ Butterfly Nationals 2026 ⛵️

Our SLJSA sailors competed at the 2026 Butterfly Nationals from July 14–17, facing smoky skies and difficult racing conditions. Although the Junior fleet was only able to complete one race and the Open fleet sailed four, our team made the most of every opportunity on the water.
