Reading tutoring includes but is not limited to phonics, sight words, building stories through pictures, decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, critical reading and more alternative teaching methods like reading with musical chairs and book creation. Writing tutoring includes but is not limited to comprehension, syntax, grammar, sentence structure, editing, poetry, essays, thesis statements, letters
and book creation. Even for the youngest students, I encourage story development by creating books. Learning only grammar and syntax can be boring, particularly for an energetic grammar school student. They need to be able to express themselves and need to know that someone is validating those self expressions and embracing them. We also distribute a questionnaire to both the student and parent so that the most personalized approach can be achieved. Tutoring sessions focus on helping students grasp the concepts they will need to know to perform well in their class, as well as developing study strategies to effectively prepare for exams in their class.
